Cap and trade

There is a vote Friday on the biggest tax hike in American history. Yes this is political, but it is directly related cars, emmissions, racing, etc. If you don't like it then don't read it.

TOMORROW (Friday), the House will vote on the Pelosi/ Obama-
pushed massive carbon tax -- what the Wall Street Journal
today is calling the "biggest tax in American history."

That means we have just a few hours left to voice our opposition.

The Journal says the bill "defies the laws of economics" and
then lambasts the Congressional Budget Office for totally
ignoring the negative effects on the economy this bill will cause.

For example, Heritage Foundations estimates that the cap-and-trade
Carbon Tax will:

"Reduce aggregate Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by
$9.6 trillion"

"Destroy up to 2.5 million jobs in some years"

"Raise electric rates 90%, gasoline prices by 74%, and
natural gas prices by 55% after adjusting for inflation"

"Raise a typical family's average annual energy bill
by $1,500."

Call your Representative and key House leaders and tell them you
oppose H.R. 2454!

go here to find your rep or senator. http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

Other key House leaders or undecideds to call:

Rep. Collin Peterson (Ag Committee Chair): 202-225-2165
(Peterson just caved and is now supporting the bill)

Rep. Tim Holden (Ag Cmmtte Vice Chair): 202-225-5546

Rep. Tim Walz (MN) 202-225-2472

Rep. Mike McIntyre (NC): 202-225-2731

Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX): 202-225-1640

Rep. David Scott (GA): 202-225-2939

Talking Points:

1. I oppose the cap-and-trade Carbon Tax. This is an outrageous
power grab by the federal government that will greatly expand
government control and increase energy costs for my family.

2. This system of "allocations" has failed in Europe and will
politicize America's energy policy.

3. Especially in these difficult economic times, Congress must
not pass this tax on the American people!

here is some more info http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124588837560750781.html

Thanks for taking a stand!

Sharpen your pitchforks and light your torches... 'CHANGE' is coming!

If you are a car guy, racer or regular citizen and you don't keep up with the politics of the day you are screwing yourself and the auto hobby.

This administration is wanting to shift the dollars from oil and the oil companies to environmental "green" global warming BS. Once past this will start a trend of the motorsports industry along with a lot more stuff. It is just a matter of years before racetracks on the local level start closing.

Please check it out and become active or we will all be playing golf instead of racing!

The socialist powers that be will shove this down our throats. It's a terrible thing, but this is what we (our society, not necessarily me or you) wanted. This is what happens when people don't keep themselves educated of current happening, when people don't vote [in all local elections, budgets, primaries, etc.].

Anyhow, mainstream media and most Americans are probably too busy worrying aobut some queer musician who died, probably anxiously waiting for a statement from NAMBLA. That BS is top news to most Americans these days, the real world is too scary for the liberals, so they elect socialists like our current administration to deal with it and take care of them.

In any event, back to the issue at hand. This bill, when it passes, will not just increase the cost of energy. It will increase the cost of anything made in America. More of those Americans who care so much about that dead singer will continue to shop religiously at Walmart and refuse to buy American due to a vast price difference artificially created by taxes on business. This will affect our hobby both directly and indirectly. This also sets even more precidence of attacking motorsports (oh lordy lordy, you're burning WHAT in that racecar?). Just look at the Canadian ban on leaded fuel. The examption was barely extended last time, and may not be extended again next year when it comes up for debate again. That is where we are headed, and much worse as time goes on. Enjoy your hobbies now, because it won't be the same in 10 years.

c'mon guys, if you don't LOVE your country then GET OUT! That's what people would say to me when I disliked some of George Bush's acts and policies. So I guess now I'll be able say it to some of those same people. I dunno if we should try to keep this country from crashing or just let it crash and hope to rebuild from there with a cleaner slate.

If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

I think that George Bush had MJ killed to take the spotlight off of Obamas Global Climate Socialism plans.........

But seriously.

I work at an ammonia plant where we use something like 1.21 kajillion dekatherms of natural gas every day. We use more CH4 in one day to make CO2 and NH3 than the entire city of Hopewell uses in one year. Do y'all think this will affect my job? I'm not kidding. I have been planning to lose my job for a couple of years now.

The good news is that the senate can still kill it..........

Where's my beer and that half inch wrench?

I called my Senators from Kentucy and voiced my opinion. They both oppose HR2454 but I still voiced my opinion. Call your State Senators ASAP!

Information about 2454, I see a LOT of Nays and very few Ayes from registered public members (I'm not registered, I just found it interesting)
