Well, Thats It For Truckin!!

Yep, pulled the yellow button for the last time tonight.

The industry has been real slow around here for the last couple of years, but it got really bad the last few months. We were getting over 2,500 miles a week, now it a good week if we get 1,000. We couldn't just sit around slowly going broke waiting for it to get busy.

We bought a hard surface cleaning system for cleaning tile/grout and cement floors, driveways, wood decks etc., we can do carpets too.

Its a big step, wish us luck!!

Bill

Thanks for the good word guys!

We had owned our own truck for 5 years but sold it last sept, then we drove a company truck. Less chance of paying for breakdowns, but less money too. Oh well, no lookin back now!!

Did you anly drive in Canada I ahve a friend that drives and he is staying busy, he is back and forth from coast to coast and from the Gulf to the Northern border, and I think he is gettin around 2500-3000 miles a week he is pulling for someone, but I think he is making $.44 a mile

We drove in Canada and the States. We could only deliver from Canada to the US and then reload in the US going back to Canada. We have been hit pretty hard in southern Ontario as far as plant closings go. Also the Canadian $ is stronger now so there is less freight going stateside. Then you add in the fuel prices and.....you get the picture. There are way to many trucks right now for the available freight in Canada. This leades to major pricing wars with some carriers hauling stuff for just enough to cover the fuel. Can't make money like that!!

I'm keeping my license current just in case!! If this don't work, we might just pick up and move to the US, we have wanted to for many years. Maybe around Owensboro KY???

Hoping for the best!!
