Smile Congrats Frank Merkl, weekend race report

Hey guys,

One of the phone calls I got last night was from big Frank Merkl. He and his son were racing at Medicine Hat Dragway in Canada. They had 215 race cars there this weekend for a big show and 72 race cars in Super-Pro. At the end of the day Sunday, with Frank tuning and his son doing the driving, they emerged victorious!!! They made the semi-finals on Saturday.

For those of you who don't know, Frank has a full bodied Fox body Mustang that has a 600 CID C-460 headed engine and runs in the high 7.70's to 8.00's depending on traction. They made a total of 32 passes over the weekend and flat wore out a set of slicks. More importantly his son cut a string of 00 lights and did a great job of driving! We're happy for you Frank!

Keep up the good work,

Charlie Evans

we had to run a year old set of tires that the car never liked then and didn't like them anymore this weekend as the 60' were off 1.18 compared to the cars normal 1.11-1.12's, the kids worst like on sunday was a .024 with a string of 3 prefect lites and 2 of them dead bang on the dial on a car that the tires were getting worse with every pass started saturday with running 7.79 and by the final rounds on sunday the car had slowed to 8.15's because of the tires ,we were seeing on the data logger 1300 rpm driveshaft variation going through the lites !! all this considering we don't use a delay box !! lost in the semi finals sat nite on a double red lite run with both cars going red with .003's but because we were the slower car we were out 7.69 dial to our 7.80 but I tryed to console the kid telling him that the other guy actually went red first as he uses a delay box !!!and it wasn't 32 passes on the weekend it was 20 passes including the friday nite testing . Dam that kid makes me proud!!!!
