Energy, enthusiasm

Do you guys have any tricks or things to get you going?
For about a year or more I have been getting more and more drained. I cant sleep and cant find anything to get the energy level up. I get up because I have to not because I want to. Haven't been to the garage in months.
Just have no drive to do anything anymore.
Starting to feel lazy.
I have tried all the energy drinks and such that i know of. Getting to the point of wanting to try meth and see if it works. Seriously
Have been on anger/depress meds for a few years.

Just hoping someone has a magic trick. Before long I am going to sell all the tools and just forget the hobby

Thanks guys,
dave

Sorry to sound like a whiner, but I am desperate. Just hard to stay awake.

Have tried prescription sleepers also, and had sleep test.

Hang in there!!!!

The best inspiration I ever had was people telling me I could not do something! That was the biggest motivator I have ever found!

The second biggest motivator I like even better. Go to the race track and smell some tire smoke. listen to the open headers. And hang out with friends, or make some new ones.

Do you work on your stuff alone??? Working with a friend always helps me stay focused. Pick 1 night a week and designate that as a work night, and try to stick with it.

I think if i were you I would also make another doctor appointment and let him/her know how you are doing. I have a friend who had to try several different medicines to get one that would work for him.

One last thing......Never give up

Good Luck

Believe it or not, but a good exercise program will help you sleep better and have more energy. And I hate exercise, but it works.

Absolutely...you're a perfect case for exercising. I would dare say it's the only cure for what you are describing!!!!!!!

I also HATE exercising/working out, but I do it regularly.

Try the meth...you'll get all kinds of stuff done.

J/K...Is it the medication you are taking that is making you feel this way? High blood pressure runs in my family and when my doctor changed my medication once, I didn't feel like getting up to take a ****. Very lethargic and uninterested in just about everything. Switched to a different type and slowly but surely, I started feeling better. Just a thought...

Do a google search for your meds and see if you can find a forum for it and see what other people have to say about it. Good luck with it....Jeff

You can't be serious...?!! This is a VERY touchy subject for me... Go ahead and try the Meth and see what that gets you...! This is what it got me and my family...!

This is not from ME trying it; It's the result of someone else using it... My family's lives are forever changed by the use of Meth... The woman that did this to my wife, is now spending 26 years in prison...

I know you meant it as a joke Jeff, but as you can see in the pics, I find some things just not very funny... Not mad, just letting ya know...

100% Totally agree...! I workout regularly, and stay in good contact with all my good friends... (The guys on here) Exercise is a great way to deal with depression and the stresses of life... After my wife's accident above, I went into major depression from the new lifestyle change that was forced upon my family... Exercise does wonders... And, alot of you guys can/will slam me if you want, but what really helped me with my stress and depression was a great line of communication with the Lord Jesus Christ... I've never been better... I'm not preaching, just trying to help you get pointed in the right direction... And if you choose not to take this particular route, that's your choice and let's leave it at that; That means everybody, let's not turn this into a religious discussion or worse because there are there are a few on here that 100% disagree with my last statement... Good luck Dave, if you need any workout advise, shoot me a PM, I was a competetive lifter for 15 yrs... I can help ya figure out somethin'... I'll PM you my # as well if you want/need any advise...

First thing you do is make an appointment with your doctor. Have him run a blood panel and blood pressure check on you so you can rule out any physical problem you may have. If there is no physical problem such as thyroid, diabetes etc. then get into an excersize and diet program. It could be a combination of lack of excersize and poor or wrong eating habits. BTW while you are at the doctor ask him about depression, at some time in everyone's life we all deal with depression at some level or another. Depression can cause the exact symptoms you described and should be investigated, it usually will not get any better on it's own so mention it to your doctor. Just tell him/her everything you said in your post. Don't try meth, it'll work short term but very easy to get hooked on and once it takes over your life all the other stuff that once was important to you will not matter to you because you will lose it, wife, kids, house, friends, car[s] hobbys ect. and the desire to live. Trust me on this, I've seen it happen to too many of my friends, most of them are now dead.

My mother had an issue like that, she had a blood test done (it took weeks, Canadian health care!!) and found that she was low on iron. Started taking a supliment and all was good.

Excersise is a good thing too. I started a few months ago and lost 25lbs already!! Feel beter, have more get up and go.

My buddy started on a schedule where he did one thing every night. Even if it was just tightening one screw, do one thing. Wether you do it every night or every saturday or what ever. Most of the time he would find a few other things to do.....

i know what ya mean
i was feeling the same way
and at times still do
stress has alot to do with my case
and lack of sleep
one thing that has rilly helped me is
my dad and i bought bikes
no not motor bikes
but nice moutain bikes
with shocks in front and rear
and atleast 2 times a week we go rideing
sun we put on almost 20 miles
and it was a bunch of fun
and i could use the workout

i would have to agree with everbody
altho i am unshure if i belive in a higher power i catch myself talking to something
now and again
and as far as the meth thing i am shure you ment it as a joke
and i am not offended but in dan's case i can totaly see why it is a touchy subject
i hate the **** with a passion
my only brother is addicted to meth
he has been since he was 14 he is 26 now
and i have had try to shut him ouit of my life cause of it

i am glade you decided to talk about it
were all here for ya

A common problem is a hypo thyroid. This will make you tired and bitchy. The biggest thing I find is weight though. If I sack on an extra 50-60 lbs I can barely keep my eyes open. Eating can wear a guy out. Lose a few pounds and I am back to feeling great. I know from experience that after the first few walks or workouts it gets way easier. Those first couple times are a real biatch though.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid-in-sideways, totally worn out, shouting.."holy crap.... what a ride!"

Dave don't give up. You have already made the first step,by talking about it to others. I'm not a Dr. but if I was you ,that would be the first place I would go. NOT A QUACK,but a specialist. Could be a # of things from clogged arteries to a heart problem. Do it now,and don't wait for it to get better on it's own, because it won't. Good luck my friend, and we will all pray for you. And what Doug said about the LORD JESUS is true. TALK TO HIM TONIGHT.

Sorry to take up space on a bbf sight. but since my Dad passed away, I dont really have anyone to talk to about such things. I also feel like you guys are friends.
As for the meth. I di really think about it, but didnt because of what might happen. Was only going to do it in the garage, but dont like the bad effects. Sorry about such a touchy subject. I think the girl should spend live in prison for what happened.
I have tried the secret and talking to God about it.
I have failed 2 stress test already. I am 39 6'2" weigh 240. Used to work out alot and still have a complete gym at my house. just cant get into it anymore for some reason. used to do alot of heavy bench though, no cardio.
Been thinking about getting a bike to ride around town for the excercise.
I wont do meth for sure. Thanks for the reminder of stupid actions.
Got a Doc appointment wednesday.
Been fighting this with his help for closer to 4 years now I look back. Just getting really bad in the last year or more.

I'm having motivation probs also, and starting to get depressed about my soon-to-be 50 yr old body not holding up long enough to finish my projects, both cars and house. I get home from work and just want to rest. Lately I spend the whole weekend just recovering from the work week. My body hurts, mostly my arms, wrists and hands, sometimes my back, and feel that exercise is only going to wear my body out faster.

I have a bike and am going to start riding with my son. Hopefully this will help.

My opinion on energy drinks is the same as any non-natural stimulation. They all are habit forming, and you end up "needing" more and more as your body gets used to it. After weening myself off cafein, I limit myself to one cup of coffee a day, and I won't use any sinthetic stimulation substances or drinks unless I just have to stay awake to drive or in the unusual case where I didn't get any sleep the night before. Fortunately I don't have trouble sleeping. And I've not ever had a weight problem.

In my case the constant pain is getting me down.
