Aparently the new body didn't help as much as they had hoped.

Jim and I talked a week ago about the program. They are simply using national event conditions to do some testing, but are using the old engines. The new power plants will not be ready for a while, however they should prove out fairly quickly once everything is complete. Erica did a good job, and I know she was really looking forward to it, but I know her and Jim are really excited for next year.

Jim is a really good guy, and a REAL Ford Fanatic and supporter! He is working really hard to help out. There are some guys involved with the engine program like Moes Nolan (Ford Racing) who are top notch and I can't wait to see what they can do on the new wedge stuff!

Give them some time...! I am not debuting the new body for my car until next year. We will do some private testing, but we will not take the car out this year for competition, just because we want to have the bugs sorted out. Trust me, the Ford boys will start stompin again next year in both sanctioning bodies !!!

These are some of the pics from last week at Haas's

Morgan said in the wind tunnel the new mustang took 25 less horse power to go 200mph than his current stratus.

From the numbers that I have seen and been told there is a significant difference.

I can only take the numbers that the other brands tell me about, and that is not something I have direct knowledge of, so I have to take them at their word. But over the last Mustang (05-09) body style, the roof alone is way more narrow, and the back end of the new Mustang keeps quite a bit of vac out from behind the car. You don't really start to see the advantages of aero from one car to another in big amounts until you hit 180 mph or so. However that is why in IHRA we should see a little more gain than they will in NHRA, however in NHRA it will still be considerable!

I will see if I can find a picture of the new front ends and you will be able to just look at it without paint and see how much work has gone into them. The closest body in aero is the Pontiac GXP. Those things are really nice because they are a lot like the new stang in that they taper off in the back, and have a nice football shape with a narrow roof line.

One note I will make is the body style alone isn't going to take a car from 17th to #1! However it does definately make it a little easier. Not to mention the new stang is just sick!

Newb here and I apologize if I'm posting out of turn. Both new cars are at Indy. Although Jim's car is listed at #24 with a 6.856, he is also listed on the Q2 list with a [email protected], which is closer to the bump spot than he's been all year I'm pretty sure. Looks like the body probably helped some, but there is no substitute for steam under the hood. I'll be glad when it gets here.
Can't wait to see your new ride as well Cale! Will you guys be running IHRA (if there is one), or ADRL, or a little of both? Good luck with the new car.

They will definately make some jumps up next spring!

Thanks man! I am excited to get it done and out to the track! We will focus on IHRA primarily and hit some ADRL on the side. IHRA is fine....

Was going off of what cunningham had said in his interview with one of the racing magazines that he felt the new body alone would allow them to start qualifying because they werent very far off.It would be nice to go from 17 to 16 tho wouldn't it?

Tony.... you are right. Jim is definatly right. Indy just isn't the place where it is easy to squeek into the field. Tough nut to crack. That is like when we go to IHRA in Rockingham! Last year we had 28 cars trying to make the field! Great show though!!!
