2005 F150 - engine removal

How difficult is this? Does it require removing any of the front bodywork (or worse?)

I have the opportunity to get a 4wd supercab model for low $ with a serious bottom end knock and copper shavings in the oil. (and failed cam phasers)

Thanks!
Jim

If memory serves, the factory recommended service procedure is to hoist the cab & front sheetmetal off the frame with a lift after removing the cab bolts & assorted connections. PM richter69...he should be able to confirm/deny...

It may be possible to do it the conventional way, but it sure seems as if there is a lot of crap that is very difficult to get to because of the firewall.

Lift the cab off. The core support and inner fenders are spot welded on.

it can be done by removing the cab or pulling it "old school". removing the cab is usualy the easiest way though......
