This boils my blood, is there any end to it?

So I was reading FTE last night, and someone posts a thread about fitting a damn sbc into a Ford pickup.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/99...in-a-ford.html

Whats worse, is that guys actually chime in and promote the idea!

Is it too much to ask that we Ford guys have a forum without the GM fanboy trolls spouting off their garbage?

If you feel the need to prove these clowns wrong see above link, I'm the one who posted a link to Paul Kane's website to give them a little reading material that I'm sure will be ignored like a motel room bible.

bad swap

I'd chime in an tell the guy the only need for that motor in a Ford truck would be in the bed over the rear wheels as ballast! It makes as much sense as putting a Honda motor in a Mercedes .

Haha. I guess I am just spoiled with the higher average level of education that we have over here.

Next time I just need to stick to my own advice and pick battles accordingly, and ignore the rest I suppose. Every time something like that gets mentioned I just can't resist getting sucked into it lol.

After coming through the "no ford support era" before the " 5.0" mustang i used to get kidded quite abit about the whole Chevy motored/ford car deal and i came up with this phrase.

If thats all the know how I had was to be able to build a SBC then I would put it in a FORD so I wouldnt be embarrassed to ride around.

That would make them think about it for awhile and then most didnt say much about it afterward..................

Ford 460 based engine in a Yenko now I like the idea of that! While we are at it lets put a real Hemi (Ford) into a 70 Cuda! There was a local guy that put a 54 chevy truck on a bronco frame with all Ford drivetrain and the local car show wasn't gonna let him in, he said thats BS because look at all the Mercs with SBC's in them. It led to a big controversy and about 30 exhibiters ended up pulling there cars out of the show.

I saw that topic the other day but didn't open or respond. Not worth the aggrivation. Some people will do what they want to and that's all it is, never mind how much more they spend, how much of a hack job it is, or how much less it performs. There's just no reason for it, unless you're one of those "I need to have something different" guys and just want to do something different that most other folks will either shake their head or laugh at.

At the end of the day it's his truck and his money.

In my oppinion, the only viable reasons for a combination like that is if you have the truck with a "blown-up" engine and you already have that engine and trans.

Otherwise ... any other reasons just don't hold water to me.

rmcomprandy, you are a great man and your level of expertise speaks for itself. However on this issue I must disagree, the only thing that should "Hold Water" is that 350/350 combo in the nearest lake, pond, or ocean (geographical locality depending). It’s when we make allowances that things like this are allowed to continue.

A Fordolet, that's just wrong, and I shake my head when ever I see one. I've heard of a Corvette (Chevette) with a Ford 427 in it around here. On the back window it says "Power by Ford" Hahaha!! I think people spend so much on the body, they have to skimp on the engine and go cheap.

It's probably because EVERYTHING is slanted that way in the aftermarket-place
You can buy just about ANYTHING to put a SBC into just albout anything and the true ART of hot rodding is almost dead, (where you had to MAKE most of the stuff). Most people who have little craftsmanship skills just pretend to be a hot rodder and want to BUY everything.
What a shame...!
