Reunited. I got her back.

I bought a 1982 351C 4 speed XE Falcon back in 84. A couple of years later it was stripped, repainted, retrimmed and wheels. Motor got 4V heads, cam and holley.

It was my first attempt at rebuilding a car and was so proud of it. Only drove it maybe 20 times a year cruising the town.

Once i got married the cruising stopped and it only got driven two or three times a year until in 2002 and years of complaining about the cost of registration and insurance and not being driven and nagging to sell it, and more nagging and even more nagging, i finally sucumbed and sold it to a friend.

Fast forward to 2010, the wife is well gone and i got a phone call to see if i was interested in buying it back. I couldnt say no, i couldnt really afford it but i had to have it.

It was very well looked after and driven less than i did. Still has only 97,261 kilometres on the clock. A few little things need fixing but overall its still in great condition.

Wondering if anyone else has sold their car only to regret doing it and then buying it back again.

P.S. Im very happy.

Kevin

looks like a mid 80's benz. it would be fun to have one of those in the states and built the crap outta the motor and beat up on these imports by a non suspect looking vehicle

Getting back on the streets real soon

Are those particular Aussie Fords similar structurally to the Fox body cars here in the states? It does have that Mercedes look from the backside.

My wife kinda hinted about stopping racing and building cars and I let her know that is what I have always wanted to do and I won't let any woman destroy that so if she didn't like it she might as well leave then! She quit real quick.

No Dave, our Falcons didn't change very much chassis wise from the late '60s through to the late '80s. The are more like a '70 Torino underneath. Just a little smaller.

Thats what i should have said too!!!!!

I just would have been divorced a few years sooner thats all.

Hadnt noticed the steering wheel thing, but i thought there was something different about your cars over there, Oh well Im used to it now.

Engine bay is very similar to a lot of your older models. Its quite obvious you guys copied our design. lol.
BBF fits in quite nicely

Thats a beautiful car mate :-)

It looks a bit like a Mk4 Ford Cortina from the UK, here's a pic but its not a very good example

Why did the rest of the world get better looking Fords than us, with some noteable exceptions (105e Anglia, Ford Classic, Early escorts and the early cortinas!)?

We had those Cortinas here also in Australia, a little bit smaller than Xd's Xe Falcon. Cheers Colin.
