Question on HP

There is a member selling a 572 engine that is claimed to power a 3800 lb pick up to 8.90's at 164 mph. I figured that takes around 1100 HP. Can an A headed 572 with a single four barrel make that kind of power?

I am not calling the seller a liar, I just didn't think that much HP is possible in that engine. By the way it was built by Huntsville Engine. Are they familiar enough with 460's to extract that much power?

yes, but it would take all of the right parts. Most of the big name engine builders have happy dynos. They would have been bragging about building a 1300hp Ford on a single carb had it been done. IMOHO

I just went and read the ad. It says it has an Eagle crank and rods. At that power and 50 passes, I would say ??????????????????????????????????????
