Diamond Piston

Take a look at this Diamond 40031 piston in a 4.440 bore used in a 557" 6.7 Rod 4.5 stroke Nitrous motor.
There is .037 ring gap on the top ring and ring is still intact.
What would you say caused this damage?

Is this a serious question? If so you should re-consider your nitrous usage until schooling up on the tune-up, or getting with someone to show you the way (Induction Solutions, perhaps)...

Diamond Piston 40031

Hum Just picked this rig up and with the rings set at .037 and a 12deg chip when I broke it down thought I would ask.
It has been suggested that the rings butted and did this.
I though maybe fuel not sure that is why I asked here.

I will see if some one at Induction Solution will take a look at the pick and comment also.

The top ring heated up so much & expanded the .037 gap closed. When the gap closes the ring ends have no place to go so they push up and broke the piston. Somebody sprayed more Nitrous than the motor was built to handle.

Diand / Nitrous

Know that we know what broke it know we need to fix it.

After heads resurface - .021 the heads came to 62CC
Buy using Diamonds Comp calculator and a .070 Cometic MLS gasket the comp comes to 14.25 to 1 not sure I want to go any thicker on the head gaskets, any thoughts?

I have some @ .110 thick ,with 3 kits on the engine,

but .070 will be fine if you want that comp ratio
