Need help for 1/8 mile gear ratio

I am running a 4.11 now in my 1970 Mustang. The car runs 10.81 at 124 mph in the 1/4. I leave at 5600 rpm and shift at 5800 rpm and cross at 5800 rpm. I am running a 29.5 inch slick. I am running a PG with a 1.76 low gear.I will be running some 1/8 mile race this year and I wounted to know what gear would be good in the 1/8 mile. The dyno test said that my mtr. was still making power up to 6200 rpm but I am trying to be easy on it. Thanks for your time.

No expert

But that small a tire 4.56 would be about as deep as you could go and keep rpms around 6000.

Most people who try to gear to the 1/8 mile end up with too much first gear. Leave you gear in it and race Raise you shift point up.

I have a PG in my car with a 1.76 first and 4.33 gears on a 28" tire 1/8 mile track. I think you could go with either the 4.11's or the 4.33's. The 11's might be a little easier on it however and go through near 6000.

Personally with your taller tire I would choose the 4.33's. Even with those in my car its slow out of the gate. My best 60' is a 1.511 normally its a 1.53/54. I normally shift at about 450' at 7000+ RPM, and go through the traps at 64-6500. Remember the 1.76 first gear is really soft. If it was a 3 speed you could easily overgear.

I run both 1/8 mile AND 1/4 mile so I am running a 4.30:1 gear with 31 x 14" Hoosier Drag Slicks.

Just a thought if you want to run BOTH 1/4 and 1/8. IF so then I'd leave the 4.11 in the car
