Foxbody Torque Boxes

What modification if any do you guys do to the rear torque boxes to hold up to 600-800 hp in the foxbody mustangs ? they don`t look like they will hold up to the kind of torque that these engines will produce. I`d hate to put a big torque engine in just to rip out my rearend . Any ideas on what can be done to beef up the boxes can`t really afford to back half and 4 link it ?

I know a couple of guys who have used the Wild Rides Battle Boxes with good results. I'd get the upper and lower set and while you're installing them, weld up every seam you can see in that area. If your car doesn't have subframe connectors, now is the time to get them in.

The Battle Boxes do a good job.

I also welded a washer over the holes where the control arm bolts pass through. They'll definitely distort if you don't reinforce them.

I also welded up all the seams as stated, I think this alone is one of the biggest things you can do.

If you can weld they are fairly easy to make.I made my lower torque box reinforcements from the plans on this site http://www.pomoforacing.com/tech/ and it probably didn't cost me more than about $10 in materials.

I have battle boxes in mine, welded all the seams, and tied the upper control arm mounts into the floor/subframe connector area with roll cage tube and plates. I also had my 8.8 housing straightened on a Jig, tubes welded to center section, and reinforced with PER braces. I still would like to put on 9" ends and go with axles larger than 31's.

I have heard people talk about torque boxes, I must confess I am not sure what they are. Is it the area where the control arms mount? I doubt changing them would do much in the case of my ladder bars.

Yes on a Fox chassis its the areas the control arms are mounted at.

On an older chassis they used the same name for the region under the firewall and connecting the floor to firewall and front frame rail section.
