466 Iron CJ Head Build 9.47 at 139

This motor is in a 67 Fairlane 4 link back half car that weighs 2890 with driver. Trans is a rollerized C6 with 5700 stall and brake. 4.29 rear gears.
1.29 60 foot, 5.98 at 113.5mph 1/8, 9.47 at 139.2mph 1/4. Last weekend was the first time to a quarter mile track for this car as previously it had been run at a 385 foot track the last several years.
Block is a 2 bolt with stock crank, stock length Scat rods, Arias pistons 13.2 compression. Heads are iron CJ's that were ported by myself. 399 CFM AT .800 IN, 210 CFM AT .800 EX. Cam is a solid roller 276 286 with .420 lobes. Weiand tunnel ram that I ported and put a plate on the bottom and removed the webbing between the runners. Carbs are Holley 850's with annular boosters. Headers are 2" with 3 1/2" collector, custom made. Truck oil pan with a CJ type baffle, stock volume oil pump with 3 quart accumulator.
Shift rpm is 6800 and goes through the traps at 6900. Fairly easy build with attention paid to details. Darryl

Very nice result. Iron CJ's in a Fairlane, I like it.

Thanks guys. No nitrous on this car, just VP C12 running through a Magnafuel 500 pump. I must say the Magnafuel pump was worth some ET over the previous set up, which was two Holley blues. Darryl

Darryl,
That 9.47 converts to a 5.98 in the 1/8. That's smokin with a little 466 iron CJ.

With a gear change and a little tuning it could dip a good bit deeper into the 5.70 zone. 8)

Gary,

Great stuff Daryl,
Just love it. You should do a build article on this FOR SURE!!!
I think I will do a 466, when I build up the Maverick to a tube car, just for ****s and giggles! This would be a fun and popular article, especially since times are hard right now. Really like the idea of using older "outdated" /cheaper parts like the ole Offy intake. I'm gonna keep my eye out for one.
Wonder what my car at 2400 lbs would do with your engine?

NOTHING RUNS LIKE A BIG FORD!
