I can't add very much, so hopefully they'll come back and fill out some details.

Anyway, the phone call I got was from Robert Snowball and he said they made 1146 Hp,,,,,so the 1155 Hp number is small potatos,,,,, Maybe they made another pull after I got the call. The engine has a single Dominator style carb on a C-460 intake manifold and I'm pretty sure that it's on gasoline. It has a new set of my CNC ported C-460 heads with Victory 1 titanium valves, and PSI #1249 springs. Those are some extra good numbers out of a single 4 deal, and Robert has every reason to be proud. He told me he was "stoked" and couldn't wait to go racing!

Hope this helps,

Charlie Evans

Here is a crappy video. From my phone

Honestly, Craig Sullivan mastered this combination.

I used a ultra eliminator block
Bryant 4.500
Carillo 6.800 rods
JE pistons
LSM swap cam .910 int 287 @.050
.890 ex 308 @ .050
Charlie's CNC C heads Victory valves PSI springs
Crower Hippo's lifters

16.09 to 1 run on c-16
4.615 bore
4.500 stroke
pistons .015 in hole
.045 cometic
4.6 cc dome

It made a best of 1157, and 921 ft lbs. Made over 1100 from 6500 on up to 7300, and started to fall off. We made about 10 pulls. Max timing it liked was 32 degrees. This is on a dyno we affectionantly call the heartbreaker because it don't give you anything you don't deserve.

Bob Book carburetor made a tad more torque, but my pro Systems carb was way more consistent thru out the pulls. Both made basically same power.

I believe this combo is badass, and I think Charlie's CNC program is quite a bit better than the hand ported heads I have on another motor. Whats really wild is the intake is untouched except where Craig laid back the fins that hang out under the carburetor at front and rear of intake. I will try it against a really untouched intake on the other motor I'm doing for my partner.

" I believe this combo is badass,......."

That may well be the understatment of the year

What size carb is the Pro-Systems and I'm surprized with that big cam it didn't go over 7,500 rpm ? Maybe it was running out of air ? Did you have a vac reading on it?

Great build btw.... that thing would really spin the impeller in my jet boat. I could ditch the Nos and still spin 7,000 rpm.

Pro-Systems 1200

10" all the way thru pull, Star Vac pumps are the sheeote.

"and I'm surprized with that big cam it didn't go over 7,500 rpm "

It very well could have kept going, but we had dyno set to run to 7400, (thats where I run it)so the fall off most likely was just the operator catching motor and getting off throttle. I think the highest RPM I saw recorded was 7500

Thanks for the info.

On the vac I was referring to the intake track. My 565" with A-heads and a 1,050 was pulling 1.4" of vac at 7,000 anything over 1" at WOT is restrictive and costing you power.....Or so I've been told. I now have a Pro-System 1,200 but it won't go back on the dyno until next year after a complete rebuild with new pistons etc.

I'd bet your C-heads and 603" with a 1,200 was reading at least as much inches of vac as my 565" if not more.

Lem & Phillip can get Robert a 1600 cfm carb if he wants one. Right now, the most important thing is getting this engine to the dragstrip! He can throw a 1" Jomar or SuperSucker under the carb and see how the engine likes it. That might be a clue as to what it wants.

I forgot to mention...past threads about Vac-pumps and the 385 oiling system got me a little spooked of them, I'm glad that yours worked well. No dry sump correct, wet sump with a vac pump? How was the oil psi during the runs and oil capacity ?

I've wanted to re-do the system in the boat an install one on the engine but as I said there were a couple of threads that made me shy away from the idea.
