427 side oiler oiling problem

Im in the process of a side oiler build and missed that the no. 2 and 4 cam bearing has an extra hole to oil the heads. So I have the head off and cam out, the cam does have groves in 2 & 4 jrns. Can I drill a hole thru the bearing from the deck surface or should I try to change the bearings.I really dont want to disasemble the rest of the engine. does the correct bearings have a groove from one hole to another or does it use the groove in the cam for that. Thanks Leon

I have had to do this in the bottom of a boat, but the guy didn't have the cam out, just drilled a hole though the bearing and into the cam, pre oiled it to get chips out and is still running today. I say just drill the bearing clean the chips as best you can and all will be ok.
