Cam options for 460 build

Hi i am building a 460 for a outlaw stock type class truck puller so far we have the block bored out .040 with flat top pistons the block has been 0 decked, c8ve heads with mild porting and eventually will have bigger valves put in them, we will be running straight race gas, we also will be running the factory exhaust manifolds, i was thinking weiand stealth intake, but i am wondering what would be a good choice for the camshaft we are hoping for 450 to 500 hp if possible thanks for any input.

Cam Options

I suggest you give Crower Cams a call. I've used Crower Solid Rollers in the past on a 460 and a
429 build. I'm currently building a 460 bored & stroked to 504 cuin
Using a Crower solid roller custom grind.

I suggest working with them in developing a custom grind. They don't cost any more than an
off the shelf grind plus the REAL benefit is the custom grind is DESIGNED for your combination
of heads, stroke, and intake manifold.

I also suggest buying the DynoSim5 simulation program. You can input your head flow numbers
type of intake, and other engine parameters and DynoSim5 will optimize a cam profile that
you can then give to Crower.

I've used Crane cams and Comp Cams in the past (when I was into Pontiac 400's & 455's)

But I've found in my experience Crower tech support is very friendly and willing to listen and
spend time with you in developing a custom grind

If you go flat tappet check out Cam Research. They are major Ford cam players and have a machine that breaks in the cam an lifters properly. Can also check out cam guru Ed Curtis from Flowtech Inductions.

port the heads, and get a victor intake and a solid roller. LOOk in here for my 472 I did years ago cast iron intake, dove heads, factory manifolds, and full ehx to the rear, made over 500 to flywheel, added headers was about 550, this was around 1994?
