Heads

I'm far from an expert on these matters but is there such a thing as a CJ/PI head? Isn't it one or the other? Also, the intake ports don't look large enough to be CJ. I still see the bump in the exhaust port he claims isn't there. I know I am missing plenty more details but this guy is crazy or crooked.

what are you talking about?

The guy is a little confused calling these cj heads. But they are PI heads Which some people think are better than the cj head.

I find many people think 429 heads are all CJ's some people just don't know any better and most likely is in this case.

I have owned a four bolt block that came from a '72 cop car . It's the only one I've seen that did have the four bolt caps . Maybe they used up a little excess SCJ block inventory that was left over . The P I heads were on the '72 429 P I engines.....not sure about the 460 '73s .

since I started this, here is what my 460 PI consists of

I wasn't there when it came from ford, but I have what is supposed to be a 460 PI engine. It has D2OE-AB heads, factory forged dish pistons(don't recall the numbers off-hand but they are std bore with a Ford pass. car number), CJ style rods, and factory oil cooler fittings. It is a 2 bolt block. I believe this is indeed a PI engine assembly even though I didn't take it out of a police car(I got it in a fox body Mark VIII with a story of it being a PI). Obviously, the pan had been changed and it had a Weiand intake, but when I tore it down, it was all std and had Ford bearings in it further leading me to believe it was an original assembly. For what its worth, that is what this 460 consisted of.

'83 Mark VII

'84 Mark VII(fox body chassis). It wasn't exactly factory 8). I bought it for the drivetrain to put in my Mustang. It had a Stealth, 850dp, hookers, oil pan, etc, etc... all correct for the mustang.
