NEW A460 BLOCK

I got this block from Lem last fall (not a blem) and took it to the machine shop for the machine work. Well on the last cylinder there bit came loose or broke from what the told me, so they needed to bore it to 4.618 (ruff finish) to get rid of the mark in the cylinder, so now it needs a 4.625 piston. They made it right with me and got me another new block because I already had custom 4.600 pistons. The first block is now for sale by the machine shop. If anybody is intrested don't contact me call 308-379-5786 and ask for ED. It is located in central Nebraska. These guys do great work If anyone chooses to let them finish the machining on the block.

Dont think they were yelling at you Bruno. I rekon they gonna have a nice coffee table at that price. Not that its a sin to buy a block like that and go big right off the bat, but you'd think they would make a smokin deal.....guess not

Can the one hole be sleeved and bored to the match the rest?

What would be a fair price for the block?

They want to do the rest of the machine work to finish the block, do you think they are going to charge a fair price for that work?

the block is not ruined, it just took an extra .018 past the 4.600 I was needing to clean up the mark on that bore so now the rest need bored to match which will take a 4.625 piston. So if you want to build a engine with max bore and stroke, like many people do this block would be fine. I have read on this forum of guys running a 4.650 bore with the A block successfully. I just told the guy I would list it on the forum to help him make a sale. Let him set on it a while maybe the prise will go down. I would think he would throw in the rest of the machine work in to finish it up to the customers specs. Just to let you know what kind of shop your dealing with, this is a fully equipped race shop with all brand new equipment and guys that have been in the race engine business a long time. Not a lot of bbf stuff because the circle track stuff is where the market is around here.

I saw this block this afternoon and it looks real good. It was decked line honed and bored and honed. Guy said it sonic tested with .250 all the way up and down. Lots of money to be saved here on machining costs if you want the bore size. That is bare block price for a fully machined unit ready to assemble.

Man I wish I could use it. LOL Very nice piece, but the rules in my class state stock productin block no aftermarket or performance blocks. Besides they probably wouldn't fire up a semi and deliver it free of charge.
