62,700 original mile 63 1/2 500XL w/ a 514 crate

Pics at:
http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/63xl514/
1963 1/2 Galaxie 500XL with 62,700 original miles on body/chassis/interior. Original 352/FMX, now has 514 Ford Motorsport Crate engine, 600 hp version from first year they used Eagle h-beam rods (2002). Pictures of bottom end included and motor mounts I made from originals that are basically solid now. Runs EXCELLENT!
Aeromotive fuel pump, Holley regulator, sumped stock fuel tank, switched intake from dominator to standard Holley, BG 850 Speed Demon (950 cfm), Victor 460 intake, MSD Digital 6 ignition, Griffin radiator with Lincoln Mark VIII fan, runs cool even in 90-degree weather, Optima red top battery, 1-wire 100 amp alternator (due to lots of current needed for Mark VIII fan).
C6 with Art Carr 3800 stall converter, manual valve body and trans brake (that I will hook up next week). Shifts with stock floor console shifter because it is not a race car so I didn't want a ratchet shifter.
Stock 9-inch that was rebuilt at 55,000 miles, 3.00 gear, traction loc works and have marks in my driveway to prove. Old school traction bars.
Summit gages for water temp and oil pressure. In dash auto meter 2 5/8 tach where old temp gage was, looks neat. Exhaust is Crites headers into custom 3-inch H-pipe then into ceramic-coated 4-inch flowmasters, so it pretty much sounds like a Pro-Stock at idle. Has new Wheel Vintique Cragar look-a-likes, 15X7 front, 15X8 rear, new BFG radials, 215/70/15 from and 255/60/15 rear. Look really good.
What it needs:
Cowl hood needs some work to look perfect ($300 at a body shop) and needs headliner ($80 from Greg Donahue and $200 to install). Perfect stock hood included since cowl hood was made from a car that was parted out.
I have only been driving it to work and it is a lot of fun, only about 200 miles on the drivetrain install. Drove it to work a few times last week and gets lots of looks. Built to be daily-driver capable with reliable parts, even gets 6 mpg!!
Price: I would LIKE to get $20,000 to let it go. But like they say, its only worth what someone is willing to give you for it. No trades.
Please PM me.

Offers or interest?

Anyone interested? Offers don't bother me even if they are low ball
Worst I can do is say no.

Wow...

Wow, that car is cool. I am sure that it couldn't be duplicated for your asking price. If I didn't have a yard full of cars already, I would be all over it.

Check out www.galaxieclub.com for some info. They have a classified ads section for members.

You can also try www.racingjunk.com .

That is one of my dream cars, but I'm tapped out right now. ops:

Good luck.

Where's my beer and that half inch wrench?

I put the link to the photo bucket site so follks could get to all the pics at the same place.
I also remembered that I have the original fender skirts and wheels and tires, plus more I am probably forgetting.
I will check out the Galaxie club site. I had heard of them before but it didn't seem like their site had much traffic. Of course, there hasn't been much interest in the car as of yet. Galaxies don't seem to be the most sought-after Ford products.

All I can say is the new BFGs have gotten a pretty good workout for only having a hundred miles on them
And it has scared a couple neighbors.

So, is this way too much or just not the right kind of car?

Its the right kind of car, but just a bad time. Our economy is in the toilet, so people are not making big purchases for things that are not a necessity.

I just sold a completely stock 63 1/2 Galaxie fastback...390 4 speed, all original but needed restored.

The 63 Galaxie is certainly one of Fords all time greatest body styles ever released to the public.

I'd be all over that car if I had the coin.

As the world turns...I get more dizzy!

I was just going to say that. Right now most people are not making big purchases. I would not sell less than $16,500 imo. The Nada prices for the galaxie fastbacks have been going up, probably because they are getting scarce and because our money is losing its value. You should check out ebay's listing prices , then if you do list, set a reserve in the high teens.

Interest

Not much interest. I have only had one guy ask about it since posted on racingjunk. Not a good time for anyone I guess.
