slicks life

can you judge them by the wear holes or by so many runs or what? have exeactly 76 passes on a set of mt 28x10.5s and appear to be about half? 1 year old seem to be working good. dont have to burn them up totally on burn out.
thanks

Well it really depends on the use... If you are going to a local bracket deal running 11's or slower, then you can get a lot of runs on them. If you are wanting to pick up your 60' times and are running a little more competitively, then you definately have to get some new ones! Most cars running 9-10 seconds on that slick get about 30-40 runs before they are going to start slowing. You can really see it in the short times....

The wear holes are really not good for judging their potential or ability to last... a durometer is a good tool, but most don't have one laying around. I would suggest a new set at that point, and be happy with getting 75 runs out of them! You are doing better than most!

However if you are just out having a good time at the local strip, then run them till they are bare! If you need any Mickey Thompson stuff, give me a call and I will get you a discount for being a member on here

Hope this helps....

Price on Mickey Thompsons?

I just bougt a set of ET drags and front runners,I wish I saw this post here first. Think I got a good deal, but could always do better right?. For 2 ET Drags 28x10.5 and 2 Front Ets 26x4.5s $65o shipped. Next time I will call u first. Probably be a while though. Looked on your web site . Do u get the P51 heads? I might want to go that route in the future . My 72 Torino on Niotrous should turn 1os. If I ever want to see 9s gonna need at least cylinder heads possibily a stroker crank kit.

Couldn't decide if I wanted to make you sick or not.... But You would have paid $625.00 shipping included with your 460ford discount! LOL!

But I need to talk to Kaase about those heads as they quit making them but there has been talk of doing something different. I will have to to talk to him.

Just give me a call sometime.

Tips on breaking in my NEW M/T Slicks . Running Tonight!!

Got em mounted any tips on getting the most out of them? I have been running Hoosier QTPs last few seasons . They seemed OK but I never got them to really hook like I wanted. I have a few of my runs posted on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/torinorich
What am I doing wrong? Is 1.70s about par for the course? I would love to run a 1.5 or better some day. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks Rich

On wear you need to swap them side to side every couple runs. That is a big help.

As for 60' times... I need to know some more info.

HP of car
Weight of car
Auto/Stick
Stock Suspension / Ladder Bar / etc...

Of course some other items can effect your short times, but You should have the capability to run in the 1.50 range. Those tires definately have the capability! I have customers who go 1.15 on those!
