What's The best K-Member For A Foxbody??

I've got a 93 notch back. What is the best K-member to use for the 460 swap? I'm not going to use the motor mount towers on it. I'll cut them off. I have a front motor plate from Total Performance in Michigan that sits the motor lower and further back. I'm looking for a good K-member that will take the abuse of the "landings" that is also a good deal price wise. Your thoughts?? Thanks in advance!!

There are several out there but considering what you are wanting to do with it I would recommend a UPR K-Member as the price will be right and there are lots of racers who run them on some serious machines. If you are interested I could give you a hook-up on something from UPR.... just email me or give me a call.

Yes.. I am interested. I'll send you an eMail about it. I was originally looking at the QA1 due to price but I see that those are mild steel now that I have read more about them and the UPR is chrome moly. I'm going to need the A-Arms as well for it.

You don't see any problem with cutting the motor mounts off of it and running a motor plate with it do you? I hate to get something brand new and then hack it up. But I really like the motor plate idea because the motor will sit lower and farther back. The 6 inch cowls look a little silly so I'm going to try to get away with a 4 inch cowl hood.

I would not get the QA1. my choices would be AJEracing, teamz, UPR, MMR. i can't remember but one of them, teamz, upr or mmr, are made extra strong for road racing but it's not as light as the others. I have a new AJEracing k member with BBF mounts and it is very nice. i had plans to do that swap but don't have the funds right now

IMO only 2 Choices.....
Team Z or RaceCraft

Maximum Motorsports are heavy

The quality of UPR has gone down in the last few years

AJE and PA also make decent ones but with Team Z your getting customer service from Dave Z for life

Tony

Circle R Performance
Team Z

also you could run the k member mounts with k member spacers. and if you are going EFI you could make a foward(or the other way) facing manifold (kinda like the LS) to get it really low and not lose much power. or just use motor plates, custom pan, custom headers and custom intake. even with the carb i think you could get it kinda low.

just depends on how much work you want to do for the look or performance you want.

BTW I don't think your going efi im just throwing around some ideas.

I agree... the Motor Plate is always a good idea! If you want or need to reach me next week, just call me on my cell. I will be gone after Sunday....

All of them have their pros and cons. Team Z is definately a good piece. He is a good chassis guy.

I use the aje with aje mounts and the motor sits about as low and back as you can get without problems and it also corrects the side to side fitment. My motor is very tall with the trick flow a460 heads and intake but looks very at home and not jacked up like some you see.

I appreciate all the feed back. I get a bonus check in 2 weeks and I'll be buying a bunch of parts. I looked at the Team Z stuff. It does look nice. The prices are higher as well. Cost is going to be a factor because this will be my 3rd toy. The wife is ready to kill me as it is (but I'm the one with the job ). I also know with the motor that is going into it, it will be taking some abuse so I want to be sure that it will stand up to it.

I decided to go with the UPR stuff because it was the lowest price brand name chromemoly pieces I could find. I also have to say that Cale Aronson gave me a great deal on the K-member with A-Arms and coil over spring kit. No kidding. He was $100 dollars cheaper than any others that I found online. UPR is one of his sponsors so if you need some of this stuff drop him a P.M.

.....and he even answers his cell phone. That is more than I can say for me!! Great service so far. Thanks Cale!!
