1966 fairlane... What rear springs??

3500 with me in it I'm guessing.. QA1 promostars.. what spring rate should i go with?? Do i want it soft in the rear to squat and launch or stiff? Thanks

So like a 90lbs rear spring? Will that absorb power? I should be 850 to 900 hp.

You're going to want to know the true weight on the rear, then you'll have to know the shock angle.
Here's a calculator for the shock angle.

There's more to it than that though, so good luck.
I would start with calling the shock manufacturer.

More info..

I guess i should of told you that it is a tubbed car... so i'm going to be running Coil over rear shocks.. Its a Ladder bar setup... and it should be about 1600 pounds on the rear.. Where are some good sites to figure all this rear suspension setups for drag cars... i want to hook and go!! Thanks, Richard

150 lbs

I'm running 150 lb springs on the back of mine but my shocks are mounted in front of the axle. If you mount them behind the axle you may be able to use slightly less. I'm at 3500 lbs with driver.

64 FAIRLANE 512 CI P-51 Heads
3500 lbs C-6 Trans 9" UCC Converter
6.22 @ 110 MPH 1/8 Mile
9.77 @ 137 1/4 Mile (Still Tuning)

have you been able to get the springs mounted and teseted out yet? I'm interested in your turn out as mine is tubbed also and plan on running the QA1.
