For those who don't know about Kaase's 2014 Engine Master's entry..

http://blogs.hotrod.com/599-boss-fro...ms-145447.html

I'll wait patiently until the competition is complete, but I had a few questions;

the current engine has a bore/stroke of 4.6/4.5, which provides a large bore for large amounts of airflow for the 520CFM Boss '9 Heads.

Considering this competition is to run VP's octane restricted HP101 fuel (101 octane), why wasn't a bore/stroke combo of something like 4.5x4.7 utilized to reach 598 cubes and have better overall control of the intake charge for reduced detonation, allowing a much higher compression ratio than the 11.5:1 listed on the link above? Also included, the longer stroke/shorter(ish) rod would have induced a higher intake pulse signal, helping flow into and out of the cylinder to some extent.

I may never receive an answer, but I think i'd ask the question.

I thought his entry this year was something like a 3.695" bore with a long 4.7" inch stroke to make like 404 (or 409) cubic inches.
Or did he enter two Boss'es??

As the world turns...I get more dizzy!

According to the article this is team "Almost Kaase", made up of several guys from his shop, not Jon himself.
