Being in a farming community I get mice in the house.
Is there anywhere to prevent it. I set traps and catch them, but is there a way to stop them from coming in. Its only 2 or 3 a year, but still dont like it.
Cant find any holes in basement that I can see.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Don't go to my Grandmothers house then! Last time I was there she opened the cabinet to get some sugar out and there was a snake! But I be from Mississippi!

I agree, sorry I got the cart in front of the horse and just had barn in my head. I didn't read the entire post.

I use mouse traps with peanut butter. Makes them have to really work for the food.

That or glue pads, but if you have small kids I would stick with the traps. It's better for them to get their finger caught in a trap than eat the little blue poison on the glue strips or in the boxes.
Go put you out a army of traps and remember the mice like to crawl along walls and not out in the open.

Have you talked with a Pro exterminator? That have some stuff to keep them at bay, including bait, Traps, Ect.

wonder if the thing you plug into outlets really works. sounds like a gimmick to me
Not very well, or at least not at much of a distance...BT,DT.

Cats work much better...mouse-free after we went that route.

BTW if your looking for the hole they are coming through remember a mouse only needs a hole the size of a standard pencil to get through.

As to keeping them out, as long as you don't have any kind of pet rodent (mice, rats, or rabbits for example) they make a sonic deal that just plugs in that is supposed to drive them out and keep them out. I can NOT vouch that they work but I have seen them at farm stores and was told that one guy used them in his barn and stopped having rats in his feed bins.

Thanks everyone, i will try the red pepper. We have a chinchilla now, so I guess the electric device wont work. I am allergic to cats, so cant go that route either.
Homespun there is nothing wrong with chilli. You know a guy named Tim Fleming

I'm only 28, but i remember going to old farmers houses and they would use an old metal lid off of something like a mayo jar and fill it with a mixture of borax and sugar or jelly. They would even nail it to the floor in the corner in the attic. I guess the sugar would attract the mice and the borax (boric acid) would eat their insides.
