I picked up a 460 dove block free. The caps have gone missing after being in buddys garage for almost 20 years. Can replacement caps be purchased aftermarket?
I'm not aware of anyone that makes a #5 cap in the aftermarket. You'll either have to find somebody willing to sell caps from a bad block, or buy another block with caps.
And no matter which way you go, you'll need to have somebody who knows what they're doing fit the caps to the block, and line hone it at the least. You can't swap caps from block to block without fitting them.
For the time and money involved, I'd either do a 4-bolt conversion (using a #1 and #5 from another factory block), or find a block that still has it's original caps and use that.
Yes, I have a D0VE-A Block, I just had a local machine shop install 3 Center splayed Pro-gram caps for me, Billet steel caps, very nice. Pro-Gram Does make a front and rear cap also, in 2 and 4 bolt configurations. Give them a call, they are very helpful on the phone.
How much for the 3 center caps, i tried ringing them and email, but no response!!
Im guessing no. 5 cap would not be cheap!!
Cheers, Bob
