  1. What head gasket..

    Engine Tech
As asked prior did the gasket fail in the same spot or a different hole? How is the gasket failing? Stud torque value? SJ
  2. Fingers crossed Start Up this weekend

    Engine Tech
Set the total timing according to your work order copies instructions. At specified RPM with OUT vacuum hooked up. Since we've already curved the distributor the initial timing will be close if not exact with regard to the curve provided. A degree or so either way initial is not an issue. Too...
  3. What head gasket..

    Engine Tech
ARP bolts or studs? Studs imo offer better clamping force. Is the deck straight? Same place or different hole? ARP bolts and studs will give different torque readings depending on whether or not the washer is rotating on the casting or the bolt head / nut is rotating against a stationary...
  4. 91 efi 460

    Engine Tech
A properly built C6 with a shift kit utilizing good parts will easily deal with the power that combo, which I am very familiar with, can toss at it. SJ used 2b RHP :)

Initial and total timing settings can be found on your pink copy of the work order. SJ used 2b RHP :)
  6. Cobra Jet Headed 521 Cam timing?

    Engine Tech
Your current cam is less than ideal. Not enough exhaust timing and the lobe sep is too tight at 108. What is your installed intake centerline? If the cam is installed straight up the ICL is likely 104 in which case you can retard cam timing 4* Was the fuel curve on the 950 off? What was...
  7. Cobra Jet Headed 521 Cam timing?

    Engine Tech
Two areas that can help accomplish your goal. Utilize a Torker 2 intake with Jomar power cone. Work runner exits as noted in the build album. https://www.facebook.com/pg/SMJRHP/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1223335671087150 Instead of running the cam 4* advanced keep the ICL and LSA the same...
  8. Valve covers

    Engine Tech
The aftermarket does not support this style valve cover. Used is your only choice. We have some used ones. There are two styles. < 8,500 gvw uses one o ring and > 8,500 uses a thicker o ring in a deeper channel. Typo fixed. Can you post a pic? SJ used 2b RHP 🤶
  9. Ported D0VEs need expert opinions

    Engine Tech
The missing material above the seat in the damaged port is not an issue. A sharp edge at the short turn however is. The pics make it difficult to sort out that detail. SJ used 2b RHP :)

    Correct... SJ used 2b RHP
  11. Ported D0VEs need expert opinions

    Engine Tech
Port work is pretty decent. The exhaust short turn radii needs work after the hard seat install. Sharp edges there kill airflow. SJ used 2b RHP :)
  12. EGR Block off Plate

    Engine Tech
That reply is over 12 years old... We were used to his sarcasm. SJ used 2b RHP :)
  13. Head gaskets

    Engine Tech
BBF head gaskets are all marked FRONT. Make sure they are installed correctly on both sides. SJ used 2b RHP
  14. Edelbrock valve placement

    Engine Tech
The Eddy chamber is essentially a copy of the iron BBF chamber. The SCJ / P-51 / AFR have a better transition chamber to intake seat. The Eddy, ProComp and TFS 290's will benefit from the following. Blending in the sharp edges (arrowed) on the exhaust side of the chamber help air flow a bit...

    Engine Tech
Use an adapter to place a carb on the EFI intake and then use a self learning TB system like Holley or Fitech with the blow through. We designed this HP adapter working with Mary at PMS. https://www.facebook.com/pg/SMJRHP/photos/?tab=album&album_id=868379113249476 SJ used 2b RHP :D

  19. Horsepower and torque thoughts

    Engine Tech
500 tq give or take. Repeated dyno testing and in car trap shows that 34 to 36 degrees TT seems to work best. Low static c/r and pistons significantly below deck as well as domed pistons can require more TT. SJ used 2b RHP :D
