I wanted to list my current combo in my 1972 Mach 1. This motor was intended for my daily driver 79 Ford Bronco but ended up in my Mach 1 when it's 429 eat the camshaft. The 429 only had 500 miles on it and it was the first Ford that I have lost a cam in. Most of the parts for this 460 were bought used at swap meets or Ebay and I have about $500.00 in the motor and $350.00 in the transmission and rear end. I started with a 1977 D1VE block and 1976 D3VE heads. Block was bored and honed to 4.401 and decked .010. Deck height is .002 and piston skirts have .002 clearance. Pistons were used .040 cast late model dished (Sterling's I think) with Sealed Power moly top and cast second rings. Ring gaps are set at .026 top and .022 second. Crankshaft was turned .010 mains and .030 rods. Crank was stroked to 3.890 to bring the pistons up in the hole .020. Compression is 9.5 to 1. Stock truck rods. Camshaft is an Erson Brute Strength 270 cam kit (similar to the Ford M-6250-A442 or Comp Cams XE262H) with 270*/280* .511"/.536" and 214*/224* @ .050 112 LC. Camshaft was dailed in to 108 intake CL. Stock truck timing set. Used SCJ oil pump and oil pan with HD drive. Heads are ported. Intakes were gasket matched to the Fel-Pro stock small port gasket, guides narrowed, bowls blended. Exhausts were full ported, head bolt bump removed, exhaust bolt bump removed, AIR bump removed, bowls opened, guides streamlined. Stock size valves with 30* backcut and 2 angle valve job. Valve springs are stock 351C 4V I had on hand and set at 95# on the seat. Valve guides cut for positive seals. Ford Motorsport pedestal Roller Rockers (used) Nascar .080 wall pushrods 8.600 (used). Intake is the old Edelbrock StreetMaster with the ports open some but still has anti-reversion lip at head. Exhaust are stock P.I. (same as SCJ) manifolds and have been ported. Re-pop factory H-pipe with Flowmasters and pipes out the back. Distributor is a reman Accel blueprint single point with vaccum advance hooked to a MSD-6 box and blaster coil. Spark plugs are Autolite #24 with gap set at .045. Carb is a Edelbrock Performer 750 cfm 1407. Transmission is a C-6 that I rebuilt with extra clutches, R code servo, Transgo shift kit, Motorsports #9 roller kit, and TCI Saturday Night Special convertor with 2000-2200 stall. Rear end has 3.50 gears on a Trac-Loc. Car has a fun button of the funny stuff, NOS Power Shot 125 hp kit. This makes for a great street car combo. It does great smokey burn-outs, I can leave over 150 feet of posi marks! It's been to the track a couple of times. 14.0's @ 101 mph with out nitrous and 13.0's @ 108 with nitrous, with slow 2.20's 60 foots. That's on street tires with full exhaust and the car weighs 3740# with me and 3/4 tank of gas. When I get my 60 foots down I know it will go in the mid 12's easy.
