Anyone upgraded the power system on their 1973 Lincoln Mark IV? My new sound system drains my battery. Bought a Tuff Stuff alternator but it requires a power voltage regulator. Do the 73 Mark's have a voltage regulator? If so, where is it?

It has been a while since I looked at an early 70's Lincoln, but look behind the battery, usually on core support or inner fender. BTW, I have a "decent" stereo system in my Ranchero and a 130 amp large case 3G alternator powers it no problem, of course not at loud levels all the time(along with dual electric fans and electric fuel pump). The 3G really cleans up the wiring "mess" from the 1G/voltage regulator. When getting another voltage regulator(if needed), try to find one for a taxi/police application(they used to make them specifically for these years ago), they have a higher amperage rating for a larger 1G "side terminal" 100 amp capabilities. Your Lincoln's VR many only be rated for 55-70 amps. Good luck
