521 a429s. 1st past off the trailer car had a 1.38 60ft and a 4.09 330 ft. and started spinning so i let off. 2nd pass had a 1.40 60ft and and 4.11 330ft spinning and went a 6.28 1/8 mile and let off at the 1/8 and coasted to a 10.01 1/4 because i did not know they had the 1/4 clocks on for our lane. would have went in the nines easy. it bust the bypass hose so i could not make another pass. this is only the 4th and best pass on my new 521. the first 2 were last sat. and the car would not accell because the hood was too close to the vent tube on the carb. i think this car can 5.99 with more gear and put the hvh 1" back on with a new hood. the carb is sitting on the intake with no spacer right now. play with timing and loose some more weight out of the car. 3265 with me in it 3.73 gear and a glide and 34 timing. im happy so far but i know it car do better. slick are old and was spinning on take off. leaving at 3800 on the break. oh yeah all on muscle. no gas. almost as fast as my old 466 on a 210 shot. thanks to all the guys on the site who gave good info.

What did you end up doing? Did you just take the hood off for those runs? 6.28 with a 1.40 short time tells me there is plenty more there if you can hook it. Looks like I was fairly close on my guess at the E.T.:) Keep us posted as you make changes as far as what helps and what didn't. Sounds like a Bona-Fide 9 second ride...:cool:

Here are my last passes again 4/23/09 UPDATE

1st pass was a 9.88 1/4 @ 137, 1.382 60ft
2nd pass was a 9.81 1/4 @ 138, 1.381 60ft
3rd pass 6.17 1/8 @ 112, 1.388 60ft
all on motor for now. tying to get 5.90s on motor before i shoot it. will put video back on soon. new slicks and air pan on carb are the only changes made to car. times got faster but 60 ft is still in the 1.38s. will be changing front struts to a adjustible style and swap out 3.73 rear gear for a 4.10.

Nice ride ! What rpm are you bouncing off that rev limiter on the brake ?

i love the a429s. they work good with some work done to them. i believe what some guys say now that a good set of a429s work just as good or better than the new style cj heads. the car has alot left in it. i still need a 6in hood so i can put my ssucker 1" back on and and get more air in and get my 60 ft down around 1.35s or so. play with the jetting on carb and loose some weight on the car also. i can stand to loose 25-50 lbs myself. lol

i know jim, if i take my engine out of car again we may try it. i would like to see how fast it is with a light car and tunnell ram.
