I know a lot of guys here ain't too interested in late model stuff, but this was kind of interesting to me!
*This is not my car*
AmericanMuscle's 2011 Mustang 6sp auto, 2.73 gears ran [email protected] 100.10 with a **** 2.33 60' time! Heck that's exactly what my old LT1 6speed camaro used to run with same 60'!

With a "performance" 87 octane tune and no other changes, they ran a [email protected] 104.04 with a slightly better 2.23 60'.

I know some are thinking, "who cares?" I'm looking for a newer car to replace my wife's '00 5sp Mustang GT. I can order the base model 6sp manual V6 Mustang (that comes with power windows, locks, keyless entry, CD player, traction/stability control) 3.31 gears and spoiler for under 22 grand.
With a tune it should be in the high 13's over 100mph and still deliver 31mpg on the highway!
If I'm not too fussy on the combo, there will probably be low mileage '11s available this summer for 16 grand. Not to shabby for a daily driver.

Yup, I think that 300HP V6 is a really nice package. More power and better mileage than my 2007 V6. Might have to shop around for one and see what the Z-plan pricing looks like.

There was a guy on Yellowbullet that raced his 2011 V-6 Mustang all stock ran a 14.00 at 101 mph i think he might have had the 3.31 gears but can't remember for sure.

Well my wife stepped up and bought one.....and to be honest she's not that impressed..... YIKES!! Its my fault for not forcing her to take a day and go drive the V6 6sp car that was 3 hours away from us.....
We love the car, were OK with the price and excited with the fuel mileage, but it just feels doggy. Like there's a delay in the gas pedal response? Its bad enough she has only driven it 10 miles and has approved a CAI/Tune right now!
But all my drive-by-wire stuff was like this, so I think it can be improved.....but its pretty disappointing to have spent quite a bit of money and hear her say, "Yeah its OK, I can get used to it"

Part of the issue is her last experience was driving the new 5 liter car. We both know that is very apples to oranges, but we thought the 6 would be just a touch snottier in the lower RPM's. I'm going to do a tune/cold air intake and exhaust (so it sounds faster) all at the same time and then see where we stand.
The flowmaster force II system is pretty mild. I don't want one of those loud V6 cars....

My plan is to get the C&L intake. Also, I emailed Jon Lund to see if he has developed a tune for 3.7 cars with stick. He did the tune for my GT500 and has a personal V6 auto car that is in the mid 13's with basic bolt-ons

Here's a couple of pics of her car

It's a cool car but 3.7 liters just isn't all that much. It may have the zing up top, but I'm sure it's soft before 3000rpm or so. That's the way my old Q45s are. 4.5L V8 in a 4000lb car. Makes it pretty snappy for an old luxo barge when it hits 3500 and stays strong to 7000rpm, but from off idle it's annoyingly slow. My old 750cc kawasaki may have had 105hp, but you wouldn't ever know it unless you got the revs up.

I bet a higher stall torque converter will be the best bang for the buck to pep it up. I kinda skimmed through some of the text and thought she'd bought a manual trans one.

Yep, its a 6 speed stick car. (Although the auto's are 6sp now too)
I have a tune coming from Jon Lund and I will order the intake and exhaust tomorrow.

Then it is what it is! It will never have V8 torque. If you wind it up more and don't short shift it, its not too bad.
Its a nice little car that the wife should get close to 30mpg. She drives 60miles a day all flat highway.
It not super slow, it should be capable of 14 flat at 100mph....it just doesn't feel like it!

I have a set of factory bullitt wheels for it too. The 17x7's are too narrow for my tastes.

That's a sharp looking Mustang i didn't think my 2010 F-150 Supercab 4X4,4.6 3V,6 speed auto and 3.73 gears ran so hot till i raced it ran a 16.257 at 84.89 mph with only 750 miles on it.It suprised me for a 4.6 i had a 2007 F-150 Supercab 4X4,5.4 3V,4 speed auto and 3.55 gears best it ran was a 16.65 at 83 mph.

2011 v6

I guess my expectations are just lower than some I have had the pleasure of driving both stick and auto thought both performed great the stick was up to 55 and just in to 4th on a two lane back road and I thought wow I got two more gears to go and the auto used the converter quite nicely and I have been told that auto is the one rated at 31 miles hwy because the trans is controlled by the ECU any way I hope you get your new stang tuned the way you want and she is not sorry that she got it

Well the tune, exhaust and CAI is ordered. We'll see what she thinks after that.
This is the first 6 cylinder we've had in 5 years (last was Jeep Grand with I6) and the first performance based V6 ever. (unless you count my 87 cavalier Z24 5sp...)
Its just been a while since we've driven anything without V8 torque.

I also read too much..... I saw where a bunch of these cars run the quarter in the same time as my old LT1 6sp car. It makes sense because the power is about the same as is the weight. But how the power is made is VERY different and I should have known better. I knew it would be different, just not the degree of different....

She has driven it more now and is getting used to it and I think the memory of how the 5.0 car is fading.... She likes the car and it is good enough. But what guy doesn't want their wife to love a 400+hp muscle car? I had the opportunity and it slipped by me. And that kind of sucks! It would have been worth the extra money if my wife became more involved in my hobby.
I'm getting over it and will make the best of the situation. But with these big ticket purchases, you don't get chance for a do over for a few years!
Its totally my fault and I have learned from the mistakes this go around.

go baby go

Andy I would love to be able to buy a new Mustang and to chose which one to get would really be tough I doubt that there is very many that can just throw caution to the wind as I said I think that the V-6 car can be a great car and very easy to get in trouble with keep us in formed on the updates and how they work sure looked like there is a ton of room under the hood for can you say twin turbos??? if I was only made of money.

Not a chance I'd be messing with a brand new car like that. Anything happens after you do your "mods" and it's on you. The warranty is out the window.

I have to admit though, I had the same bug to mess with my 07 when we first bought it. The warranty kept me in line though. Kind of glad I haven't at this point.
