Have a 460 with cj heads, 598 lift cam hyd ,with comp roller rockers aftermarket valves , comp springs and retainers. Having problems wearing the keepers on the valves. The valve stem height on top of the retainers seem short. It wants to suck the valve caught it twice. What do i do to correct the problem?

Without a little more detail from you I am only guessing here. At 598 lift you will be needing a pretty healthy spring. My guess is that your keepers and or retainers are not up to the task. I am thinking you need at the very least a good 10 degree steel retainer with the good forged keepers. If you are turning any kind of rpm I might even consider a titanium retainer again with a good quality keeper.

hardened keepers/locks
What parts are ya using. Kinda sounds like 10 degree retainers with 7 degree locks.
time for new valves -- keeper groove is bad , now thats if you NOT running stock oem type retainers

Mock up your valve train roll the engine thorough its complete valve train motion so as to closely watch and make sure you do not have clearance issues between the underside of the rocker arm(s) and the retainer(s). If your valve train setup is such that the stem tip is buried deep enough in the retainer that the underside of the rocker arm is pushing down on the retainer (instead of the roller tip pushing down on the stem tip), this may release the valve locks and allow the engine to drop a valve.

You may also want to make sure you dont have clearance isues between the retainer and the top of the guide. If the locks stick down even a few thousands it may be enough to keep kicking them loose, I agree just pull the valve covers and carefully use a brfeaker bar and pull the engine thru a few cycles and check everything for clearance. keep a feeler gage in your hand and check every thing that is close its a simple go/no go check.
