Trying to get the crank driven pwr steering pump off. Got the dampener off. removed hyd lines, removed the two bolts holding the pump in place. Can't get the pump to come off! Anyone have had this problem? Tried prying. Tried lube. The pump does spin on the crank. Afraid that if I put anymore pressure on it its going to break All advise appreciated. tks Mike
It is a slip fit thing, snug but not a press on.They do get stuck, however.Really no advice other than what you're doing. The pump WILL break if you get too aggressive with it.
Not sure of what the second key is? the dampener is off and the pump does spin on the crank. Have to assume that there is no key as the pump spins freely.
That second woodruff key is much longer than the damper key and fixes both the crank sprocket and the power steering pump hub. It's not even visible until the pump has been removed. Use plenty of penetrating and releasing oil. Keep doing what you're doing. You have to tease it off from the front. Don't be tempted to pry the pump body or use a bearing puller on it. Do not hit the pump body with anything. Above all, be patient; it will come off eventually.
