I posted this in the Engine Tech forum but I wanted to post it here because I didn't read through this forum first & this is probably where it should be. I'm going to be rebuilding my 1985 460 this winter. I'v got it in my 1985 f350 4 door dually. I use it to haul my race car to the track in my 24 foot enclosed car trailer. It has 4:11 gears with a C-6 transmission. My question is what do you guys recommend to do to the engine during the rebuild. I want to try to not only help the torque but I also want to help the MPG's. Right now I have a Edelbrock #1406 carburetor on it. It still has the EGR system on it which still works. Other than the carburetor it's all stock including the exhaust. I've heard about using an early model timing chain would help, what do you guys think. It's a non- catalyst truck as well, if that helps you. The other question I wanted to ask is what would a set of D3VE heads do for this combo?
