Tonight I took a quick look at a slight oil leak on my daughter's Expedition with a 5.4 engine. It is a very slight nuisance type leak with only a few drops on the garage floor.
I noticed a small amount of oil in the block valley.
I will do more investigating later, but wonder if anyone on the site has experienced a 5.4 with this condition?
I am sure when I pull off the shrouding and covers from the top of the engine, it may be more apparent. I just haven't fooled with this engine family that much. The 4.6 in my 97 Lincoln MKVIII has over 175,000 of no problem miles. ( watch it blow up in the morning, since I said that...)
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Keith

Jon might be able to fill in the facts on the 4.6 in a 97 Lincoln MKVIII..

Not sure if you have the Cast Aluminum/ Plastic Intake Manifold? Intake gaskets like to leak.. Put's coolant in the #1 cly..

the pass side head was the culprit for most hard to find oil leaks.theres nothing that has oil going through it in the valley of the mod motor.or its brown coolant, then its the coolant tube right under the intake.
