79 mustang 502 with stock p51 heads,comp flat tappet cam 272 276 at .50,850 demon vac sec,glide and 8 inh conv,Leaving near off idle with poor traction. Only one full pass so far 1.46 60 foot 6.44 at108 1\8 and 10.10 at 133.5 1\4 .

Thanks Bruno, Its a 373 with 28 inch tires,coan 5200 stall.The motor has plenty of grunt but the carb might be hurting the top end.

Post some more details, Compression? Head Flows, Header Size? Carb and intake?

Whats done to the suspension?

It is 12to1,stock p51 heads,victor intake,850 demon carb,2inch hooker headers,The suspension is just your average bolt on control arms in the rear with an air bag. Stock frt struts with aje swap k member. I am sure it will run high nines after tuning,but it started losing oil pressure after a few passes. Im going to pull the pan soon. Hopfully its not to serious :x

Steve they ars scat i beam cap screw rods and srp flat tops with extra valve notches cut for the heads.Not sure on the part number.

i've been loosing oil pressure after about 1000 foot and i'm running 3/8" clearance between the pickup and the pan. it's a canton setup for a fox if yours is similar i would say increase the distance to 1/2" i plan on doing mine by lowering the bottom of the pan i think. i'll know more after i look at it closer. o yea good work and grads. to ya! :)

I finally have oil pressure the entire pass :lol: After adding oil from 7 to 8 quarts with fresh bearings and kendall 20 w50 oil in a miloden pan,I was still losing oil pressure just before the traps 1/4 mile.I changed to amsoil 20w50 race oil at 6 qts and have 80 pounds the entire pass and 70 pounds while braking. So i used my trans brake at 3600 and went 9.97 at 135 but still only a 1.42 60 ft.This is with no rubbing on the intake or heads and a vacuum sec 850 so there is still plenty off potential for upgrades in the future. :!:

try leaving at 4500 rpm. i use to leave at 3600 with the 2 step and went 10 teens, i took it to 4500 and went 10 o's high 9's. so it dropped my e.t 2 tenths. just something to try, it cant hurt!! jmo.
