Hi everyone, need some expert help. I have a 532 Ford, lost oil psi at about half track. removed engine from alterd found camshaft broken at cylinders 4 and 8. rear cam brg does not look like it spun in block looks like it was pulled out by the cam? No other engine damage i can see yet. New cam brgs were installed. Bearing shell has no signs of heat scoring?

Sorry having trouble uploading pictures, engine block is at machine shop, having all oil passages inspected and cleaned. New bearings will be installed along with another cam. I will keep you posted with what we find.

Update.

Block back from machine shop, #2 cam bearing had small metal filings behind bearing blocking oil to #2 bearing, block was machined for four bolt mains. Removed all oil plugs, cleaned and boroscoped oil passages, found no more metal filings, installed new cam bearings fitted in new cam turns freely in block. reassembled engine after inspecting all components I will be firing it up tomorrow.

Oil pressure

Track day 75psi during warm up, constant 55 psi during all runs. hot idle 35psi touch throttle instant 55 to 60 at 180 deg engine temp. runs and sounds great.

Sounds normal w/race clearances and race oil. Good luck w/it.:)

Always set a new or used cam up on V blocks and make sure there is no runout. I've sent Howards back before. Not saying that could have been your problem, just something to always check.
