As some of you may have read in the October, 2009 Race Pages, my 598 project is moving along. My current powerplant must be sold either as a running engine, or in pieces, to help defray some of the cost of the new engine.

This engine was freshened up 2 years ago and still runs VERY well(used only 5-10 days per year). Oil pressure is 80+ on start up and 35-40 at 1200 rpm idle(75 at 2000 rpm running when hot). Here is a parts list used in this build.

A460 Block, 4.44" bore(have sonic sheeet & good for 4.625")
SCAT 4.5" Iron Crank
SCAT 6.8" Rods with L19 Bolts
Diamond Custom 14-1 Flattops(top and sides coated and ring lands down .350")
Coated FM Bearings thru out
Erson Custom Billet Roller Cam
Erson TiTanium Retainers, 10 degree locks and FSP Roller Valve Springs
Crane Roller Lifters
Manton PushRods
DOVE Roller Rockers
ARP 12 pt Head Studs
Comp Cams Stud Girdle
Manly Custom Guide Plates and ARP Long Rocker Studs
Moroso Valve Covers
Blue Thunder Heads w/ BBC Exhaust & Ferrea SS Valves Flow sheet provided. Flow #'s,
(402 Intake @ .800" & 312 Exhaust @ .800")
MSD Small Cap Pro Billet w/ Bronze Gear & HVC Coil
ROLLMASTER Billet Timing set w/ IWIS Chain
ROMAC Balancer and SFI Flexpalte
BT Timing Cover
Weiand Tunnel Ram has been sectioned/welded/ported & flowed(like an Old Pro Stock TR)
Tunnel Ram has Wilson Shear Plates mounted, and is CERAMIC COATED
2 Custom built Holley 1000 cfm 4150 style carbs, mounted sideways with linkage
NASCAR type Manual Fuel Pump
Dooley 14 qt Pan and P/U, w Crank Scraper
Melling SCJ Custom Oil Pump and DSC Billet Drive
Powermaster Starter
Custom Bassett water Injected Headers(CP Style), Ceramic Coated @ 2.125"(i.d.)
Odds and Ends I've forgotten to list.

As I say, It's in the boat currently and I can start it.
Ultimately, I have to pull it to make room for the new one.

This engine puts out 840 hp @6800 rpm and 758 Ft/lbs torque @ 5400 rpm on a VERY CONSERVATIVE DTS Dyno, and is very reliable at that power level(dyno sheets supplied to new owner). Requires Valve adjustment once in the summer and 1 Oil change, and that's IT(new plugs optional).

It will make an excellent boat engine, or a reliable Hi compression engine for your street/bracket car project.

There is alot of $$$ tied up here. If you would like pictures, SERIOUS buyers please email me at [email protected] and I'll send some to you.

I will entertain offers over $9,000.00 for everything listed. I prefer NOT to part this engine out, but if you want something specific, I will consider it.

Location of this engine is Anza, Ca, half way between Los Angeles and San Diego. Shipping will either be local p/u, or Forward Air to the closest Air[port to the buyer.

Holy ****!

Dennis is a good guy to deal with. I bought a set of 351C 4v closed chamber heads back in 2001 or so. If you do not remember Dennis, and probably not, I met you in Temecula at the machine shop. I sent an extra $5 or so in the mail...

If you split up, how much for the distributor?
What are those carbs?
What did you do the tunnel ram? I've got one that's old but original.

Thanks,

Jeff

He was a sponsor of mine for two years and a great guy. He has met me half way on the road to get me parts on Sat evening. Talk about customer service.

BTW - I need a oil pan for my Comp Jet, do you have any used ones sitting around ?

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jeff. I remember. Finished with school and back home in Corona, eh? I am going to try to sell it as a unit before I split it up. It's a good combination, and is very reliable.

The Carbs are 1000 cfm Holley HP Carb Bodies and 950 base plates, with some work done to the boosters and venturiis. The response is almost like Fuel Injection. Instantaneous leave at full throttle with no hesitation at all.

The Tunnel ram has $1500.00 worth of welding, sectioning and porting done to it to match the BT Head ports. The whole runner section has been widened from the separation down to the port mating surfaces for better flow and smoother transition to the Heads. The Plenum under the Carbs is also reworked, welded and resectioned. Lots of difference between this and a stocker.

If I decide to part it out, you'll see it here. Take care of your Mach 1(if you still have it) Jeff, and nice seeing your still in the mix.

Hi Dennis, Is this motor still 4-sale? sure looks like a nice motor for the price.
Hi. Yes, still for sale. Come down from the alley, (I remember most of my customers) one of these weekends and I'll fire it for you if you like. You've probably seen it at the River, as we come up to BR once or twice a summer.

If you're interested in parts off of this, send me an email or call if it doesn't sell.

If anyone on the Forum is interested in this whole engine to use, or, as a spare, I may take 4 payments spread over 6 months. $3,000.00 down, and 3 payments of $2,000.00 each, one every 2 months. You P/U engine(or I'll ship it to you - you pay actual shipping) when paid. The engine will be out of the boat in 2 weeks and on a rolling cradle as a unit.

Without NOS or a Blower, I doubt anyone could duplicate this engine at the price I want for it even if they're "in the business".

Let me know if anyone's interested.
