Figured this would be the best place as any to ask this question. While walking around a friends junk yard the other day I found somthing I had never seen before due to all the leaves being on the trees in the summer. Its a 2 door 74' Gran Torino Sport. Wondering if it's even worth asking about getting. From what I could tell it's a Q code auto car, and still has the mag wheels. Someone got the motor and tranny, but still has the rear end. All I can tell body wise is it has 1 dent in the lower fender. Even the interior and dash is all intact and good condition just molded. I have to many projects right now, but I'd really hate to see it sit there and rust away. So is it worth my time?

Definately worth the time. Very few Torino Sports were made, period, and even less with the Q-code 351C; plus that was the final year for the package. Find a place to store it while you look for another 4v Clevland and trans for it. :D

Trim pieces for these are a rarity nowadays as well. Check out blueoval60-79.com

If it's savable, even better, check the frame behind the front wheels and the floors in the back.. Wish I were closer.. And had money for another project.....

The guy wants 300$ for it. I looked it over one more time and found it was missing one side trim piece. The frame is good, but it needs a new passenger quarter panel, and maybe a fender, it has a dent in it. He also said I could have all the parts I needed off a 72 Torino which has all the running gear in it with the car. One thing Im confused about is, it has all the Gran Torino Sport badges on it, but was optioned with Opera windows, which say torino brougham on them. The vin says its a Torino Brougham, but it has the Sport guages and badges, which I read could only be had with a Gran Torino Sport.

cool car

I had a lot of fun in a 73 torina sport that I bought from a friend for $95. It had a 2V 351C and FMX. It was pretty rusty in the rear quarters and muffler was rusted off. After an hour with a putty knife chiselling off what was left of the vinyl top and another hour painting it with farm implement paint (with a paint brush) it was quite a mean black machine. It was fun just to smoke up the tires and do stupid stunts with. I bought it my junior year of high school and I've always liked clevelands since then. Granted, I'm only 25 so it wasn't that long ago. I don't know what these cars are worth, but I remember it being rather fun. Mine had a trac lock posi with 2.75 gears in the factory 9" rear - 28 spline. The car is still sitting in one of my rows of junkers and every now and then I'm tempted to bring it back from the dead. If you need some small hard to find part, if you do buy the car, let me know as I may have it. I don't know what parts are the same from 73 to 74.

I just wanted to add, I found out it IS possible to have both a Brougham and a Sport. They were rare, but it did happen from time to time. They started as a Grand Torino Brougham and the Sport package was added, plus, in your case, the Q-code package on top of that. I mention this because I just heard about another '73 Brougham Sport Q-code that was passed around our area from owner to owner for $1,500 before finally being sold to some dude in Europe for $12k.

Still waiting on the weather to clear up here, cant get the car out when its muddy :( . On the other hand I found the motor, the guy that owns the place put it in his old beat up Ford wrecker, then put a spacer on the intake so he could run a 2bbl carb. So when I get it I can say my Q code cleveland is running around in a junk yard lol. Still havent found the tranny though.
