Hello everyone I'm new to this form. I'm trying to find any information on the differences between a 1979 460 and a 1997 460. My 1979 460 is in need of being rebuilt estimated cost $2,100 I have found a 1997 460 the person will sell me for ironically enough $460. Now the 1979 460 is bolted up to a C6 transmission in an F-150 pickup will the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds interchange and will the 1997 bolt up to a 79 C6 thank you for any information you can give me on this matter

The intake and exhaust manifolds will not interchange between the two engines. If you used your 79 heads on the 97 engine they would work. You could get some early small chamber heads and use them on the late block for a bump in compression.I am not sure about the transmissions It will bolt up but not sure about the converter pilot. Hope this helps.
