I bought a used rear end out of an Explorer that was supposed to be an 8.8 It looks bigger than an 8.8 and has a sensor on top of the housing its a 3.73 Limited slip. My intention is to narrow this to use under my mini tubbed Falcon. Got it cheap but have been told its a 9.3 if I get it narrowed is there axles avaliable for it ? Or do I just need to cut down one of my 9 in housings and build a posi track ?

the only diffs with sensors in them that are larger than the 8.8 are the 9.75, 10.25, 10.5

of course this is only if no one has modified something else and put a sensor in it.

8.8 will have 10 bolts in the cover
9.75 will have 12 bolts in the cover
10.25 will have 12 bolts in the cover.

Most 10.25's are full float however there are a few that are not.

What year Exploder?

Unsure what year it was on a rack with several other axles I just picked the one that had a good ratio and an "L" in the code I was told it meant locked but I am assuming it means limited slip
