Managed to get the dipstick plug out of my timing cover, can someone measure theirs and tell me how much of the dipstick tube should stick out of the timing cover?

Also, the tube is loose in the housing, can I use epoxy to tighten it up? Don't want oil in the water......

Thanks,

Jim

Depending on how slack it is you could use a centre punch around the dipstick tube but really you need to insert a rod about the same size as the internal diameter of tube first to stop it crushing you could also use a all bearing in the top of the timing cover to roll the edges down but be weary of doing this as the timing cover is only cast. Just a couple of ideas you might want to use with the epoxy as extra insurance.
