We decided not to run Friday not due to lack of race fuel (55 gal in 7 races just my truck) But we took off for Adair Iowa bright and early sat morning. Kasey ran down to the last two trucks the first round and had some belt issues so she did not place even after beating the winning truck! I on the other hand won the first round first round got lane choice for the final and won the whole shebang! ( more air time than a skate board at the X-Games!) so we loaded up and headed further north to Boone Iowa. Boone is a Chicago style track or paper clip track one truck starts on one side and one truck starts on the other side first one back to where the started wins! We started at 6:30 last night Kasey ran very had again but didn't have any luck on her side sucking the air cleaner full of water and she got beat out... I again went out and dominated winning the first round! ( the first round we ran counter clockwise that was great because with my brake setup two master cylinders two pedals left pedal LF Wheel right pedal the other 3) My started got full of water and mud but after a quick starter change I went out for the final and got beat twice by a truck I took out in the first round due to they reversed the rotation and went clock wise I can't turn right with my setup! I am one of the only trucks that also runs straight drags so I have to run 4 wheel disc brakes to meet some of the track rules where everyone else just runs the front brakes with two cylinders and pedals! But either way I got 2nd and we still had a great time and for the second week in a row actually made money after all expenses were paid!
Here are few pics I will post more when I get a chance to go through all of them. I will also post some vids!
Congrats Derrick! Looks like you got a handle on it now and are getting some rhythm !! Kasey's sounds like she's getting it down also, that seat time is paying off!!!
Great pics too, looks like you are sure using that suspension!!!
Thanks Jeff, Kasey has been doing very well we have two more big races next weekend!
Jerad, The class I run (Pro Stock) we are limited to what suspension we can have it takes a lot of trial and error to find a good combination. A real nice stiff set of shocks and a soft set of springs are key parts to a good landing truck.
Here are some pics of some of the modified trucks they have no suspension limits.
looks like you guys have to slog some pretty good mud there as well!! I sure wish I had the money to build one of them modified trucks, that looks like a blast to drive!!
Next weekend they are doing dirt drags and a slolom course, I don't know if its the same style as what you do, but hopefully it turns out to be a big event!! I will not be doing any sort of slolom curse though HAHA
hmmm that makes sense, i have a big f150 with big axles and i have a race thursday and i know they like to put a little jump before the mud, i only have one shock at each wheel in the front so im sure it will be a fun ride!
Yes, Myron a lot of mud this year we have just been dumped with rain all summer. You should try a course type track some time you would be hooked! Tried my first one bout 8 years ago been hooked every since! Jerad, the jumping can be hard on things but you will find the weak links pretty fast Thats all we did whenever something would break we would replace it with something bigger and better and move on to the next weak link!
Getting ready to head to Denison Iowa tomorrow night got a big fair race! Denisons grandstands hold 8,000 people so it should be a good rush to race under the lights in front of that many people!
Oh and any chevy guys reading this my truck is going to be 100% faster this week since I now have full throttle lol. I have been trying figure out why it didn't seem to take off like it used to.... Got to looking and my gas pedal looked crooked and sure enough it was bent. I had my old man hold it to the floor and carb was only opening 1/2 to 5/8 throttle. So I bent it back braced it up and thought all right I have it whipped now...... Nope 3/4 throttle so did some more tweaking and tightend up the throttle cable. Long Story Short its now a 4bbl instead of a 2! The bad thing is I only had to run the truck hard one or two races the last two weeks and came home with the top spot twice and number 2 once!
got some vids loading to you tube now I will post a link when its loaded!
