Really thinking about swapping from a C6 to an AOD in the car.. Being that a AOD was never put behind a 460... I would have to use a JW bell. Any experience with them? Good / bad / indifferent?? Kinda pricey for a bell housing but its SFI...So thats good..Just dont know if I want to sink that kinda money into it and not really know what im doing.

We run one in our Bantam. We have not had any trouble with ours and it's a nice clean way to adapt the tranny. Some highly respected tranny builders don't like them. From what I hear the issue is alignment.

If you are doing a mid plate you might be better off doing a mid plate/adapter plate as one piece.

Yeah this is for a street/ strip car. Yeah I like making alot of power but I dont compete on a regular basis right now. Ultimately I had rather have a TKO 600 in it, however 2500+ for the trans and accessories needed just isnt in the budget right now for me. This car is mainly for havin fun. Cruisin to the DQ on pretty summer days and an occasional trip to the track. Idea is going with an od so I can go to a lower geared rear. Have the lower gear for track duty and od for cruising..

Thoughts, comments Ideas???

Use the J.W. Ultrabell. I've got a couple of them and they beat the adaptor plate hands down. I've seen some guys struggle with starter alignment when using the plates.

I talked with a guy here who has actually cut a case up and put on the bell. I liked what he had to say so I think next time teh car is apart i'll go ahead and order the bell and the necessasary parts to do a aod..

Thanks
Brad
