Anyone care to estimate 1/4 mile time?

66 Fairlane factory weight (internet says 3100 before driver and gas, I'm 180 and I usually only run 10 gallons.) 347 stroker producing [email protected], and [email protected] AOD trans with stock converter (for now,) going to a stock 8" rear with a 3:1 ratio. Oh and rear tires are 26" tall. Anyone care to make an educated guess as to what it might run in the quarter? TIA

Mid to low thirteens til you get everything done.
You think that fast? A 3,300lb. car with 425hp, a stock converter and a 3.00 rear gear? I was gonna guess 14's myself. A converter and gears would be a huge improvement!!
Yeah mid 13s sounds right with 3300lb and 450tq with the current set up, but with the 425hp and 450tq with a decent size converter and better gears mid 11s at 116-117mph would be the best you would get out of it
Look at my specs on my sig - and I barely make it into the 13's with 429ci.
I could see mid 13's, my old '72 Mach 1 ran a 13.99 with a stock 351C 4bbl with a bigger cam, stock converter, and 2.73 gears. I finished the 1/4 in 2nd gear!! I think it weighed closer to 3500lbs.

Have fun!!

You probably weigh over a thousand pounds more and very poor gearing. JMHO! Put some 4.10's in there and I would think closer to twelves.

I could probably do a little more gear, but not too much (maybe 3.25?) As stupid as it is going to sound, I would like to try and get some decent mileage out of a tank of gas. This car is my daily driver, and I drive 10 miles each way to work. And I would prefer not having to fill up more than once a week..

I would be pretty unhappy if that was the case. My last car (Audi A6) had only 300hp/295tq and weighed 4100lbs dry, yet it was rated at 14.5 in the quarter. So I would hope at least to be in the high 13's somewhere.

rated ! and what it does

True. They do tend to beat the crap out of them when they do those magazine articles. The all wheel drive made it great off the line though (part of the reason it was so heavy.) Quite a few stock Mustangs, riceboys, etc. were caught off guard by what they thought was a family sedan with a crappy v6.. ;)

I would go 3.55 with aod my truck only turns 1500 at 55mph with the 3.55 to low of gear is going to lug the engine and make it burn more gas and work harder .Daddy went from 3.08 gears to the 3.55 and pick up 2 mile a gallon on it when he had it

I don't plan on keeping the AOD (if I can help it.) I want to get a built C4 to replace it.
