Sure is. Or tap deeper if the drilled hole is deep enough
I’ll give taping a shot first and if that doesn’t go smoothly I’ll shorten it upx3 tap deeper if can.
and if you do have to cut it run a die on it before you cut it,leave the die on while you cut.I’ll give taping a shot first and if that doesn’t go smoothly I’ll shorten it up
Well tapping it just about gave me a heart attack I was able to tap deep enough and then I put the bolt in and it had the clearance but when I pulled the bolt out to lock tight. the threads I had just tapped were so brittle they broke off and luckily the original threads were not damaged. I don’t know how this happened but I’m just going to shorten the bolt now. Was about to be a very sad dayand if you do have to cut it run a die on it before you cut it,leave the die on while you cut.
What I think happened is that new threads were only on the tapered section of the tap and when I put the bolt in that was trying to tap the rest of the way but they had no where to go but breakWell tapping it just about gave me a heart attack I was able to tap deep enough and then I put the bolt in and it had the clearance but when I pulled the bolt out to lock tight. the threads I had just tapped were so brittle they broke off and luckily the original threads were not damaged. It was a bottom tap but shortened the bolt and all is good 👍was the tap tapered at the end,i am guessing it was,
or was it a blunt end tap.which is better for continuing a thread.
sux been there . hope cutting the bolt goes better bro.
