All seems like a good idea to get to the point quicker, but just wondering
how is advertising space valued/sold on these forums? Is it # of members, visitor counts, # of threads/posts? It might be better finacially for the site to not get to the point so quickly?? Just thinking out loud.

I don't know that aspect of it, I sent a PM to Paul Kane and we will see if anything gets done. He may be able to answer that question. I find it hard to believe that this hasn't been made into a sticky yet. I have seen some copying and pasting this over on the other site to help them so why isn't a sticky yet?

Dont want to start a fight or anything but with all the guys on here lately who cant or wont accept advice from people who know, then the sticky is useless. Anyway I'm wrong most of the time and I'm used to it, some people dont know what they dont know.

I have no problem with your opinion. I just think this could be a good tool.
I agree it is a good idea and would stop the 4 or 5 posts to get the basic info needed to give good advice. Seems to me it would be of a huge benfit for the OP to give this info, he would get better answers faster. I used it when it came out and would still use it.

Most of the time a good search will answer some of these questions anyway. So...

Just my 2 cents.

I am not trying to take away from the intake pecking order post but kinda confused how that got to be a sticky and not this.:mad::mad:

I agree with bigblok86ranger, I used this exactly the way it was supposed to be used and the responses I got completed my build. I will be using it again here soon and it will be everything I will need to complete it again. This is a great sticky if it were one. I had to search to find it and soooo many people miss it and don't get to take advantage of not pissing anyone off with dumb questions and having their concerns ignored.

chuck

none taken about my post, I was surprised it was made a sticky so quickly too!

Now if we can get the un-needed post removed! (including this one)(I'll delete this one later as I've did what I could to remove my prior post. Maybe others can do the same. )

4. Parts you already have

This is a great sticky but I think that I will need some help in answering Q#4, Parts you already have.
I just yanked the 460/C6 from a '77 F-250 Camper Special parts truck that had been thoroughly abused by a scrapper.
So, where do I look and what do I look for in order to answer this question as fully as needed?

need advise

I didn't wanna be "that guy" who joins a forum and starts a redundant thread, so maybe I can get some how to advice on picking heads......wait I better follow the sticky.

DIVE-1650-A2B 71' block bored .030 over
Purpose: Jet boat will run up to5500-6000rpm
Cam: Lunati #61603 hydro/flat tappet 552in/564ex 1.730 ratio and 110degree lobe with 227in/233ex [email protected]
intake: Weiand -dual plane mid-rise
Pistons: Speed Pro -flat top, hypereutectic

looking to get 450 or better out of this on pump gas (91)

Im looking at "trick flow" heads but I don't know enough about all the parts and block to know what I need as far as chamber size yet. I don't know deck height and if I got a gasket in my package deal. either way I think im understanding the caculators and how to get the right chamber and ill shoot for 9.5:1 so I can run the cheaper fuel.

What I need help with is intake and exhaust valve size. Ill be honest im doing pretty good learning all this stuff on the fly and all the info ive posted thus far would have been complete jiberish to me less than a week ago. So right about the time I read about air speed and valve size over the duration and air moves at 700 something mph was right about the time my head exploded, lol

Some questions about heads:
-at what point do I need to jump from 7/16 to 3/8 rods?
-round or D shaped exhaust ports?
-in my application would it help to pay extra for 13-15 degree heads?

Thanks- for any help hopefully I can keep up with all you guys.

Copy and paste this to the engine build section and then delete this from here in order to keep this post cleaned up. We'll be more than happy to help you.
Rob
let me get this straight........there's 3 pages of crap on this thread, most of witch is not useful information but just comments. I ask a serious question with all the required details for someone with the know how to be able to answer and your worried about me clogging up a "sticky"? the thread isn't locked, and your not a admin.
