It just amazes me how generous you guys are.

Since my tranny failure I've been offered a loaner Glide from my buddy Blake along with his converter, flexplate and driveshaft. While at the track, his friend Mike offered to rebuild my tranny there on the spot and pull an all nighter!

Another BBF Forum friend has offered to ship me a tranny at not charge and if I like it then pay him "Whenever you can" are his exact words. Same friend said that he has enough parts to put together a glide just like his as another option........

Another BBF Forum member has offered to check out my tranny and fix it for little to nothing! I just need to send it to him when I get the chance.

At this time I don't really know what I'm going to do, right now I need to concentrate on the Man Cave.

I just wanted to say THANKS to all my BBF Forum friends, you guys are THE GREATEST! I have the MOST FUN at the race track when I'm with you guys!

Thanks a million!

Let's throw my C6 behind that motor. I would love to see just how much a C4 to C6 swap would slow a car. My new tranny only has 6 passes on it and a 4000RPM stall. Hell I'll even deliver it-as long as the Cavewoman is cookin' :D I'm thinkin brownies.

Brandon,

I'll tell Tracy you want brownies....... Actually if I went with a C6 then my converter that I have now would work. It's for a C6 but utilized the C6 to C4 spline adapter.

The other night while talking to Randy and then to Blake I'm trying to figure out the distance from the block/Bell to the end of the tranny distance for a Glide, C6 and C4 to see if my driveshaft would work. Randy's glide measure 28" and his SBF C6 measured 33". Anyone know the measurement for a C4? I don't have my tranny here to measure

Brandon,

Now you got me thinking, we COULD use my car as a test bed to prove once and for all how these tranny's affect a cars performance given a LOT of torque. IMO it will be a wash and they will all run about the same but it would be interesting to see. On my third qualifying run I shut it down after the 1/8 and the car only slowed down .03 seconds when shifting 1st to 3rd with a shift point 300rpm's higher. Like Blake said, that's a LOT of torque!

Now what if one weekend we ran the C6 and then the next weekend we ran the glide, all other factors would be equal except the glide will have a different converter. Hmmmmmm

Brandon, how long is your driveshaft? Center of the u-joint at the rear yoke to center of the C6 yoke u-joint.

I ran a c-6 in my 70' stang and a buddy had a glide set up in his. I swapped them out one weekend , changed from 4:30 to 4:86 for the glide. The car weighed right at 2840 and ran 6.21 with both. That was with a 466 and dove heads.

Brandon,

Measure your C6 length as well. See if it's 33" like Randy B's SBF C6.

Randy (Ky Mustang),

That's what I figured. IMO the kind of torque that I'm generating won't make much difference with any of the tranny's but it would be interesting to see how a 3200# car reacts to the different tranny's.

My first qualifying run the car ran a 6.12 shifting at 6500 and then on the 3rd run it ran a 6.15 or maybe it was a 6.17? I don't remember now, need to get the time slip out of the car. Anyway, that was at 6800 and a 1 - 3 shift.

First round of eliminations I was going to shift at 7000 and do a 1 - 3 shift....

Damon: This is some very interesting info about the 1-3 shift....have you calculated the amount of rpms dropped from 1st to 3rd ?

Because that would be as Blake said....alot of torque !!

I don't know what the rpm's dropped to , most likely to the converter lock up point. I really didn't notice until I crossed the 1/8 mile line and realized that the shift light didn't come on and I was in 3rd gear. That is a LOT of torque

best investment I made was a playback tach, just got the cheap one and it will show you a lot of whats going on with the converter/tranny.

Damon, at this point the trans (C4) hard parts look new! No problems with the bands or clutches, and the pan was very clean. Next stop is the valve body. Will keep you informed.

Dave.
