block differences

I have a 1988 EFI 460 in an F350. I was told edelbrock heads and manifolds will not work on this block. Any body know if this is true. If so what are the differences

Thanks

The eddy top end package will physically bolt on yes.

With the OEM EFI pistons you run a small risk of piston to valve contact with the larger intake valves in the eddy heads if you were to use the small chamber heads where the chamber is not as deep. Large chamber heads not so much by not exactly right either.

Change pistons to allow a build to suit your needs.

All passenger car and truck blocks are the same with regard to cylinder head acceptance excepting the boss 9.

What is the end goal here?

Did you replace the pressure regulator?

The injectors are powered ignition on and grounded via the ECM to actuate.

I would certainly double check all of your grounds AND vacuum lines.

Coolant temp sensor as well.

Any KOEO or KOER codes?

In 89 it was either a C6 or manual transmission so switching to a carb and std dizzy & ignition system is pretty straight forward.

We've helped several client go that direction after they gave up on the EEC IV EFI.

With the ignition off and then on I would check to see if the injector harness is shorted to ground on one side or both.

You can also check each injector plug to see if the plug is grounded with the engine not running but key on.

Remember when ignition is on the injectors have batt+ and they are batch grounded by the ecm.

Disconnect the battery to erase adaptive learning values. Hold brakes for 30 seconds.

Reconnect the battery, hook the map directly to vacuum and see if the engine will sort itself out after a few moments.

If not I suspect the map sensor is a problem.

15" runs richer than 18"

What is your fuel pressure with and with out vac hooked to the FPR?

Tried disconnecting the battery. It did the same thing with 2 different map sensors. Not sure why but when it is running like crap it is missing on #3 cylinder. I'm about ready to shoot this thing with a 12 gauge
Trade the injector from cyl 3 to 4 and see if the problem moves with your injector.

You are missing something.

#3 cranking psi the same as others?

going back through this whole thing in my head. when I took it in to my friend it was running fine no misses, it was running rich. He also found the fuel regulator was bad and the water temp sensor was throwing a code. I had a set of injectors i told him to put in. when I brought it home it barely ran missing and sputtering. I am beginning to believe the injectors i bought were wrong.it is the only thing that makes any sense.

Get a matched set of 24# injectors

Accel is fine.

Glad to hear you sorted it out.
