My prayers and condolences go out to the family of the pilot who was killed today. Being a Navy Veteran myself I always went to their shows when they were in the area, and my brothers and I were planning to go for tomorrows show at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C. In the wake of the accident their performance has been cancel but the rest of the air show will continue.
All I can say is the pilot is one hell of a guy, he could have ejected at any time, but stayed with his plane to avoid plowing into houses. Apparently some houses were damaged and some injuries to people on the ground, but it sounds like it was from some trees he clipped and parts from his plane.

I've seen the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels a few times.
Back before 911 you could sit at the end of the runway and watche em come over so low you could count rivets.

I saw the Angels whan I was about 8 and was completely floored.
My dad and I built a few different Angels models after that. It really stired something in me as a kid.

The news today that we lost a naval aviator makes me sad. They really are ambassadors of the Navy.

God bless and God's speed.

I watch the Angels every year when they come in July for Searfair weekend. There is nothing like watching these guys with just feet between them and Lake Washington at speeds that will break your eardrums. A good friend of my father's, Bob Jackson, who use to fly with the AF Thunderbirds emailed the story to my father yesterday and gave him the news. As Phil put it, these guys are the best of the best. Godspeed and Godbless all family members.
