hey guys im new to the site i was just wondering if u guys think its worth putting a BBF into my 90 bronco its got a teeny weeny 302, aod:confused:(why put that in a truck?) 8.8 with 3.55's
31x10.5 r 15 bfg A/T

i want to do a bb swap and i want it to be around 500 to 520 ish cubes just because. it is a DD at the moment but a swap wont start untill i got a cheapy car for a DD.

i know the tranny would be canned and the 8.8 would prob have to go. just seeing if it seems worth it to anyone.

thanks all:D

a BBF swap is always worth it, no matter what its going into, its never a step in the wrong direction!! Nice bronco, looks like its in really nice shape!! The trans will not work, and the rear will likely explode as you know already. You'll want to get a stout C6 with either a NP205 (for serious abuse) or a BW1356 tcase for occasional use.
i dunno about the 8.8 exploding been running an 8.8 3.55 gear in mine for 3 or 4 seasons this year with a 600hp or so motor and ive never even had the rear cover off
Your gonna prolly wanna do something with that TTB front end as well...

What size tires are you running with 600 hp threw a 8.8?
Don't think and 8.8 is weak! it's just as strong and a 9" in factory form. The main limiting issue is the c clips, but that can be rectified with a set of c clip eliminators. Once that's done, they are well on equal ground. And with the Mustang crowd around there is more than enough after market support for stronger/bigger spline axles and tonse of gear ratios to choose from.
35x10.50 boggers up front 35x15.5 i belive is the width on the back boggers i run a stock ifs front end too with very minimal problems never nething major one stripped spline and im crediting that to being 22 years old

thank you it was a steal. i dont know what xfer case is in there and if im gonna do a bb swapi will probably do a solid axle front.
xcase will be a 1345 or a 1356.
most likely a 45 (fixed rear yoke)
if the 8.8 is a factory trac loc it will most likely not survive a big block and any decent size of tires.
ya just a factory trac loc 8.8 but if im gonna do a bb swap i will swap out the rear axle
Very clean Bronco you have there. As far as axles.... how much abuse are you planning on putting this thing through? The torque that a 500+ cubic inch motor can make will be fine with an 8.8/9'' rear and a D44 solid front if the only thing it ever sees is mud, but are you planning on jumping it or crawling or anything? How large of a tire are you planning on running?

If you wanna swap out everything it may be easier to buy a rusted out or wrecked BBF F-350 and take the axles and engine out of that, and part out the rest. Also, If you want to continue to run coils up front, you could potentially find an axle set of newer metric Superduty axles and replace yours as a pair, I have seen a few sets on craigslist every now and then.
well to be perfectly honest the bronco will probably never see mud just pavement and maybe snow in the winter. it will pretty much be a pavement princess lol. i know the 8.8 can handle big power in the mustangs but thats way lighter and runs way smaller tires than a bronco so i wasnt sure about it.
and as for the front end it wouldnt be used really very often (only out of need in winter) so i wasnt as concerned there. but if and when i do the swap i would like to find an f 350 like you suggested for all donor parts.

tires will be 33 or 35 max after a bit of a lift but nothing to extensive.

i know some pp,l may think this swap is unneccesary but wheres the fun if you only do things cuz u need to

thanks for all the feedback so far:D
I'm new here to this forum and having only just browsed a few threads, I have to say that I'm jealous. I've always wanted a brick nosed Bronco to build into a big four wheeler. I say go for it. You'll have an awesome truck.
the 78-79 broncos are my favourite then the 87-91 are my next favourite
